Every time I open the door of my closet, I see a lot of clothes. Hmm … really, a whole lot. And every single time, I realise that there are pieces I rarely wear, and not because I don’t like them, it’s just a matter of convenience and laziness. It’s not like I don’t have the opportunity, but you know how it is, we all have our favourite pieces, and we have a hard time giving up on our quickest go-to solutions. This time, I’m going to write about a few simple and basic rules to follow to create a unique and elegant style, which is in harmony with our personality.
Use stripes
I know, I’m starting to repeat myself, but stripes are everything, so there can never be too many striped T-shirts and nautical style sweaters. They’re a good choice in the summer as well as in winter, in spring and autumn, they’re timeless and gorgeous. Opt for animal print or something unusual like lizard-green, fuchsia, or glitter, as an alternative to the beautiful and classical red and white.
Consider a trench
I know you probably have one in your closet, and I also know that there are fewer and fewer opportunities to actually wear it, because the transitional seasons are almost gone. But a trench is sophisticated and formal enough to give a woman some extra power and additional style. I opt for a classical, unadorned light brown version. Just like we see in the movies.
Grey instead of black
Forget about black, at least partly, and instead opt for grey or silver, because it’s looks fresh and formal, and it’s so trendy. It also ensures that you stand out, which is always a good thing, of course. Perhaps it’s not for every day, especially in the glittery version, but I can tell you that the 2018 winter will be full of metallics, and I believe we will wear them. It’s just a matter of time, and habit.
A bit of powder pink
This is my favourite colour, or at least one of them. I looks sophisticated, but with a girly vibe, especially in the nude version. I include it in my every day and evening outfits using tulle, silk, jeans … everything. I also like a head-to-toe look, but you have to feel it, own it, wear it with style, and most importantly, not be afraid of fashion. I always apply the same rule: if it makes me feel good, I go ahead and wear it and thus disregard what other people might think.
