Thanks to the princess Kate Middleton we’ve seen just how chic and adult a colored coat can actually look. One of the reasons people tend to stay away from them is the fear of looking juvenile. Leave it to Duchess Kate to prove us dead wrong. Has anyone ever looked as chic as she does in this gorgeous green hat and coat ensemble? The answer is no. Winter doesn’t have to be dull, in fact your winter look can be very bright, and the easiest way to do so, is to wear colorful coats.
A lot of women go for a really cool modern look by wearing a monochrome outfit. Whatever color your coat is pair it with clothes that are of the same, if not exact, color palette. That way you don’t have to worry about which colors would go together and you can still rock a bright colorful outfit. Think about it: In the winter months, cold weather can get you down, so why not look to a jaunty coat to lift your spirits? Probably because you think you wouldn’t wear fuchsia, Day-Glo yellow or neon orange as often as you would black. Oryou’re unsure how to style a vibrant hue without looking or feeling ridiculous. Valid. However, you are always in time to change your mind.
Also, it’s important to consider what you already have in your wardrobe. Take a little inventory and see which colors you mostly wear, and go from there. Got a lot of grey pieces? Then maybe lilac or blue are the colors for you. But if you wear a lot of reds naturally, then camel may be the perfect hue.
