Graceful Story

What to wear for hot summer days at the office

It’s interesting how life has changed in the recent years. As it happens, our offices are cold in the summer and hot in the winter, which means our wardrobe requires some changes to adapt to the environment. Women certainly pay a lot of attention to our workplace outfits, especially when we have to follow a certain dress code and it makes all the difference, if we’re wearing jeans or a dress. On the other hand, we have to make sure we’re comfortable, so we can perform 100 % and get things accomplished. I’ve selected some styling ideas for the days when the temperatures outside are already quite high and the vacation is nowhere in sight yet, is it? Yes, my darlings, I know what you’re saying and thinking‒I’m in the same boat!

Lighter colours

Even when you have to follow a dress code, light, fresh colours that bring an ice-cold sorbet to mind are a much better choice in the summer. This shouldn’t mean wearing the same fabrics you would when at the beach, far from it. Opt for quality materials and light colours; you can’t go wrong.

Dresses

It’s their time to shine‒when, if not in the summer? Knee-length models are not only beautiful and sophisticated, but also fashionable, so go ahead and buy a few. Comma, S. Oliver Black Label and other labels all offer some really lovely models that won’t go out of style, because they’re classic without seeming outdated.

Stripes

They’re still around and they’re a good way to spice up your look. Striped tops, especially narrow stripes on blouses or shirts, are a welcome sight; style them with either dark or white pants, or even a high-waist skirt. Similarly to stripes, polka-dots help you achieve the same polished and interesting style. Another different, but nice combination, are stripes and culottes.

Total white

I’ve already written about it and it remains a wonderful style. All-white is a summer must-have, which you simply have to try; you won’t regret it. First of all, it looks clean, secondly, it ensures that you stay fresh, and last but not least, it’s incredibly fashionable.

White top

Another wearable piece, which you can also use in the winter, for instance in combination with a blazer or warm knitwear. Silk is the best option, but personally, I think even a simple white T-shirt is a great choice. What matters is choosing quality cotton and a new piece, because the washed-out T-shirt is only okay to wear at home, and even then just barely.

White shirt

I don’t think there is a piece of clothing that doesn’t look good with a white shirt. Jeans, elegant trousers, a skirt, leather jacket, whatever you put on, a white shirt will make it look great, so I warmly recommend it. Style it with some attractive jewellery for an office-appropriate look, just don’t go overboard with the size. Pearls are Nr. 1, if you opt for classics, otherwise give gold a try, because the combination is outstanding.

Colourful or printed blouse

This is another smart choice, because the most important thing in fashion is always the effect of the upper part of the outfit. While the lower part has its own charm, it’s the upper one that creates style. So keep a few colourful or printed blouses at hand, and what I recommend most are florals or a delicate vintage print. Large prints are not suitable for the workplace, because they can be too loud, but then again, it depends on the environment. You will be the best judge of that.

Bow top

Lovely, romantic and discreet, and it doesn’t require you to style it with jewellery! A bow top is a piece you should definitely have, and all the better, if it’s a beautiful colour. I opt for pastels and my advice is, try to stay with light colours to bring some extra freshness and style to the look, not just at the tops, but for the bottoms as well.

A long bow to elongate the figure

Interesting fact: This type of model will visually elongate you, especially if you leave the ribbons untied and allow them to create some movement around you. Definitely style it with high heels and give light colours a chance, because just like with the bow top‒you won’t regret it.
