This is an article I owe to one of my readers, and I sincerely hope I’m not too late! To tell you the truth, it was a challenge for me to write it, because redheads have very specific rules, which they often don’t follow, but they should nevertheless pay a lot of attention to the colors they wear. The simple fact that a woman wears red hair says a lot about her personality: she’s fierce, unique, different, and very confident. Her wardrobe follows her personality, I still believe, however, that a balance has to be found between the hair color, complexion, and the clothes she wears.
Since we’re already on the subject, allow me to mention a rather vibrant new hair color that the fall has brought us, i.e. pumpkin spice hair, and even though the name sort of brings Halloween to mind, it’s actually a very interesting color that draws inspiration from that famous pumpkin spice latte. Not as deeply red as burgundy, which reigned last year, but brighter at the tips. Redheads should always wear a darker shade at the roots and get some highlights at the tips of their hair. If the color is monotoned all over, the result is quite unnatural, and it only looks good when she steps out of the salon. But as we all know, we then style our hair ourselves, the shade should be exactly right and dye-job flawless.
Green and yellow are the colors that suit you best, especially the former, which beautifully accentuates all red shades. Green is also a big trend at the moment, a deep and intense emerald, so you already have an adantage. Mustard is another great option, because redheads shouldn’t wear colors that are too vibrant; it quickly becomes too much of everything. Opt for polka dots, they’re perfect for you, and try to avoid red garments: the color is already in your hair, which is perfectly sufficient. Mustard can also be your guide, when it comes to makeup, use bronzer to highlight your cheeks, and use coppery or brownish tones for your lipstick instead of red. You can use brown mascara instead of black, it will work just as well.
You can opt for black or white, you can’t miss with them. Mind various shades of pink, which can create too much of a contrast, as well as all light browns and beiges (if you have fair skin and red hair, these shades are forbidden). If you prefer an alternative to black, try navy blue, which is just as elegant. Natural redheads usually have fair complexion with freckles, but those who color their hair red should mind that the shade they choose is in harmony with their eyes and skin tone. Remember, red is always risky, because it’s almost impossible to repeat it exactly, which also means your hair stylist won’t be able to dye your hair quite the same shade for the second time. Embrace the risk, it’s part of life!

A redhead in pure white can be breath taking. I love blue as well. And emerald green, like my eyes.
It has been scientifically proven that seeing the color red increases a viewers metabolism, heart rate and respiration. Wow, so being a redhead is a powerful thing indeed!
Having red hair is a bold statement, so whether you were born a “ginger” or chose it for yourself, you must embrace the fact that you stand out in any crowd. Less than 2% of the population are natural redheads and of the women who color their hair, 30% choose a crimson shade; this rarity is what makes us so exotic and intriguing.
There is an old adage that redheads should never actually wear red. I couldn’t disagree more.
Having red hair is all about attitude and confidence. Toss those ginger tresses, walk with your head held high and love being a redhead.
