Before I dive in the waters of must-have pieces, style and glamour, allow me to share with you this piece of simple wisdom: If you feel fantastic, you’ll look fantastic. That is why, my darlings, I warmly recommend you make a list of everything that makes you happy, so you put it down on paper and keep it close by. That way, you can set out on a new adventure each day, called “Today is just the day to achieve every single thing. Red lipstick will help you, I’m sure, as will a thin belt, a piece with animal print and high heels…but as long as you’re not happy inside, it’s all in vain, because your state of mind is reflected in your eyes, those who love you, sense it, and last but not least, you yourselves are able to sense, whether you’re satisfied deep inside.
Every day is a chance for a new Wow. Even if you’re just going to the store for a steak, it doesn’t mean you can’t look good. Remember, you get dressed up for yourself and not for others, for the world around you or your husband, just for yourself. I keep noticing that women have the wrong perspective and often forget this. Doing something for yourself or for others is not the same thing, it’s actually worlds apart. Make sure you put planet Me first at least some of the times, because the universe is enormous and you can get lost in it, fast. What I would like to do now is ask you to go to your closet and take out all the “special occasion” pieces, which you never get around to wearing. Okay, maybe new year’s and Christmas, perhaps a birthday or an anniversary, but what about everything else? The rest of the days? Aren’t they just as precious and unique?
The reason I’m writing about this is that I do the same mistake. And someone told me that I “have all those gorgeous things in the closet, but still end up wearing the same old jeans and basic T-shirts”, which made me think. I don’t consider myself to be a lazy person, far from it, but still, maybe it’s true, at least for everyday occasions and whenever I feel like I don’t need any special challenges, so I actually take what’s closest to me from the drawer, which screams “comfort zone”. And it is so comfortable that I don’t even want to consider what it would be like, if I ignored it for a couple of weeks. Is that right? I don’t know. I think it’s alright to be happy and happiness has a lot of shades. Sometimes it’s grey, like the pants I wear at home, while I’m binging on Netflix, other times it’s strewn with silver glitter, like the top I wore for new year’s dinner, another time it’s as soft as a velvet wrap dress I definitely don’t wear enough. And I’m in between.
That is why, my darlings, I won’t dish out lessons about how you’re supposed to wear high heels, because in this moment, I’m the one in slippers and with a mask on my hair, because I have a recording day tomorrow and I feel like my hair is still lifeless from it all…But…now and then…just for you…try this different shade of perfect happiness, when you do something for yourself and you pull it off and you’re perfect with all your imperfections, and wildly attractive, because that dress gives you power. And don’t think the world won’t notice.
