After a busy day like most people can have, all you want is to go to a warm and comfortable environment, our home. The quality of life is linked to the ability that one has to balance the different roles in society, giving priority to what you think is more important. At the same time, it’s about the chance to enjoy small daily pleasures — not just on special occasions or while on vacation. That’s where the style of living makes all the difference! Living in an environment that allows for relaxing activities, for example, helps focus attention on the present moment, fighting anxiety and bringing more pleasure to everyday life.
It always seems the case that we have so much to do and so little time. Here are just a few easy ways we can freshen up both our homes and our lifestyles.
Make a to do list
There is nothing like a good old to-do list. They keep us on track and make us realise how much we have achieved that day. The trick is to not give yourself too many tasks each day.
Change your pictures around
Pictures truly make a house a home. But over time you can get used to seeing them and they can sometimes become boring. You can swap the photos or pictures in frames on your wall. I really love to choose them for the season: flowers and sunny colors in spring and summer, something frosty and calm for fall and winter. This is an easy and quick way of freshening up your home without the need to get the paint out!
Add something romantic to your room
Seasonal floral wreaths are a wonderful idea for bringing nature indoors. A dried floral wreath is an excellent way to freshen up your space, celebrate life, or simply ensure your home appears inviting. Start with the place that acts as the intermediary between the fresh, wild outside world and the one we control, the entrance. While choosing your wreath, keep in mind what type of weather your front door is exposed to. In general, dried flowers will only last one season but some are hardier than others. You can also also use a wide, pastel ribbon to hang the wreath if desired. Spring is here!
Move your furniture
For an instant shake up, have a think about how you can rearrange your furniture. Just by swapping the location of a chair or table can make the room look different, can make a room look bigger and also has the benefit of stopping your carpet becoming too run down in certain areas from where the furniture has sat for a long time. Personally I love to change curtains, they always have a major effect on how your room looks and feels.
Candles are always a good idea
Flickering candle light creates a lovely ambiance and atmosphere. Adding a candle here and there will soften the space and instantly make it feel warm and welcoming. Scented candles are a real asset and can be placed wherever you want. Candles in the living room create a cosy and warm atmosphere and bathroom candles give you a spa-feeling at home. Meanwhile, candles on your dining room table help you achieve that romantic candlelit dinner feel, and kitchen candles spark the atmosphere where we gather the most often and can kill odours.
