Everything starts with your perspective. How you see the world, and how you interpret different situations, will determine your decisions, actions, and reactions. Life is like water, everything can change so fast, you have to be smart, many times quick, you have to compromise, understand and, above all, remain you as you are. Changing your personal perspective can be difficult, is like trying on a new pair of shoes, which can fit well or be far too big. It demands you to be flexible, innovative, focused, motivated, disciplined.
Theodore Roosevelt once said: “Believe you can, and you’re halfway there”. And he hit the nail right on the head. Your beliefs are powerful things, and they can steer you into the direction of your choice. To be even more focused and successful try to follow these steps:
Figure out what it is that you want
A friend of mine is a very good psychologist and I am always so surprised when she talks about the fact, that patients come to her with pains and illnesses, but when asked what would they like to have to have a better life, or what makes them happy, they don’t know the answer. If you deeply feel to know what you want, well, this is gold. Dig deep, skip over the fluff and figure out what will really make you happy. This step is the most important.
Ask yourself: Why do I want this?
Why? Because you have to want it for a good, tangible fact, not for your parents, your partner or the world. Just for yourself. The truth is, you will not succeed unless the goal you choose truly means something to you. Maybe your goal will not fit with your family expectation, maybe you will not be approved by others, maybe you will feel bad about these, but, well, it’s your life. Stand up tall, darling and speak loud. To figure out if your motivations are true to your beliefs and values, ask yourself the following questions:
- Why is this important to me?
- How will this make me happy?
- How will my life be different if I become this?
- How will this affect the people in my life?
Always be positive
The path might be long and difficult, so it’s very important to stay positive and remind yourself that you will make it. I am sure you will! In order to work through these difficult times, make sure you have tools to bring you back into focus. You can use positive quotes, good crystals and stones, talismans, write a journal, make activities that are fun. Find what works for you and just keep going.
And please remember: No goal is too big if you are serious about achieving it!
