Three grand essentials to happiness in this life are something to do, something to love, and something to hope for.
Another definition of happiness comes from the ancient philosopher Aristotle, who suggested that happiness is the one human desire, and all other human desires exist as a way to obtain happiness. He believed that there were four levels of happiness: happiness from immediate gratification, from comparison and achievement, from making positive contributions, and from achieving fulfillment.
Happiness could be achieved through the golden mean, which involves finding a balance between deficiency and excess.
One important thing to remember is that happiness isn’t a state of constant euphoria. Instead, happiness is an overall sense of experiencing more positive emotions than negative ones.

If you are trying to improve your happiness, cultivating solid social connections is a great place to start. Consider deepening your existing relationships and explore ways to make new friends. The signs of Happiness are always clear: going with the flow and a willingness to take life as it comes. Feeling that the conditions of your life are good. Enjoying positive, healthy relationships with other people. Feeling that you have accomplished (or will accomplish) what you want in life. The road to happiness, like the road to hell is paved with good intentions. The problem and also the answer is happiness is not so much a destination as it is a decision. Not a willful one, but a mindful one.

I think happiness is a whole bunch of stuff rolled into one. It’s gratitude, humor, a sense of wonder, a willingness to forgive and to love. Happiness isn’t what we get, it’s what we give to others. Life goes by faster than we think. We’ve to make the most of it while we can. If you’re not happy with your life, it’s time to make a change. These are my five, simple steps to happiness:
The first step is to realize that our thoughts create our reality. Your thoughts are either positive or negative, and it’s up to you which one you choose!
The second step is to acknowledge that our thoughts affect others as well.
The third step is to recognize that happiness isn’t just about feeling good in the moment, but also about creating long-term happiness.
The fourth step is to understand that happiness isn’t something we get from others, but comes from within ourselves.
The fifth step is to realize that happiness comes from doing what we love, not what we think we should do; from doing the small things that make us happy and help our personal growth, not what makes us rich; from following our hearts, not society’s rules; from letting go of things that make us unhappy, not holding on to things that make us unhappy.
It takes courage to choose happiness over fear; it takes perseverance to choose happiness again and again when we find ourselves in a negative situation, and yet this simple act has changed my life so much more for the better than anything else I could’ve tried instead. True happiness isn’t about success, it’s about living life. It’s about the journey, the people you meet along the way, and all the little moments that make up your day. It’s not about being rich or famous, it’s about being happy with who you are and what you have. It’s not a constant state of bliss, but rather an ever-changing landscape of ups and downs that make up an entire life experience.

Let me conclude with this amazing quote from Carlos Santana:
We are capable of creating miracles ourselves and the greatest miracle is to create a masterpiece of joy out of your life with no excuses. The thing I focus on is going straight to heart. I go to mine first because if I don’t feel it, you’re not going to feel it. I take a deep breath and remind myself that before I give it to you I have to give it to myself.
