Marcel Proust once said that real exploring doesn’t mean looking for new worlds, but looking at the world in new ways. That is exactly how I am entering 2019, with a new set of eyes, ready as ever to leave behind all of the old junk that I’ve gathered over time and open the door for new people, toast my team, which has been a vital part of creating quality content for so long now, and the people that have stood by me this far. Time has already weeded out some of them, there have been some business changes and the wind of life has set me on a new route; one that has already been an option, but I chose not to explore it because it was too far out of my comfort zone. And now I’m here again like Alice in wonderland, riding the hurricane on a pink balloon, only this time I’m not worried about where I’m going to land. I like simply being in this magical winter that smells like cinnamon and that has given me the chance to start new projects and enjoy life with a big spoon, just like it’s meant to be.
After all, there are only two mistakes we can do in life: not seeing things through and not starting them at all. I’m a master of both, which is why I know I still have a long way ahead of me before I finally polish those parts of my character and soul that don’t allow me to be brave enough or believe in myself enough. Once you change, the world around you also changes, it becomes your reflection. If anything, I’ve learned to listen more and speak less, because after all, we do have two ears and only one mouth. If I had to choose between being right or being nice, I would opt for the latter. Because even if the sky is full of clouds and looks almost black, it doesn’t mean there is no sun, it’s still there, it’s just covered and it will shine again eventually. I give kindness to people who don’t deserve it and sometimes grind my teeth so hard it hurts, but it’s worth it in the end. I don’t lose my identity and I don’t compromise about things that matter to me most. I don’t walk all over my soul and I don’t take things for granted, because sometimes they’re not. And then things sort of find their rhythm.
If you want to make it ’till dawn, there’s no other way but to walk in the dark. Just like with the sun, the stars are there even if we can’t see them and it’s even more important to feel them. To know somehow that there is stardust among us and that magical glittering is around, even if everybody tries to stand on their head, there’s nothing they can do about it. I am sort of like this as well: there have been battles, I have felt male pride and not enough love, not only to myself, but to life in general. Too little respect for the heart and too little sensibility for me not to be lonely. In my universe, there are many shades of things, but even the ones I’m not too keen about shine. Like the dress that I’m wearing, for which you might think there’s never really the right occasion to wear, because it’s so rich in detail, but I found the right occasion and swore to myself that there are going to be more and more of them. Glittery, magical, peaceful and only mine.
Today, we have 86,400 seconds at our disposal. Doesn’t that sound like a lot? Do you already know, how you’re going to spend them? Life is all about letting go and being empty handed, because that’s the only way to receive. My mind goes straight to a wardrobe: if it’s untidy and full of things, don’t think you’ll find space for new clothes. It’s like that with people. With emotions. Situations. That’s life. Today, I’m putting down a dot, another one, but I clearly need quite a few. Lots of dots to draw a new path and I don’t want them to be breadcrumbs, because I’d rather not risk a mischievous bird eating them. Every step we take is vital for the goal we set, so we should pay tribute to every step as another great accomplishment on the way to our goal. And do you know, what? I have the feeling I’m not merely happy, because everything is flawless, but rather because I’m able to look beyond trouble.
At the end of the day, I know I’m never alone. There’s an infinite power that guides the stars every day and it’s that same power that guides all of us as well.
