We’re not ill and that’s the main thing to remember. Being home while this lock-down lasts, seems almost impossibile, but from the other side I see it as a great opportunity to think about life, ourselves, our job and everything that we want. So, my advice is to start thinking about this situation as a white piece of paper, a new diary, in which you will write just positive thoughts and good vibes. One of the way to stay positive and feel good is to dress up even if you stay at home. The reason in simple: the excitement of dressing up as if you go to a party can be better than the actual party!
Having been ordered into lockdown and self-isolation, dressing in your finest fashions might feel inappropriate. The world is a sober place right now and no one wants to appear frivolous or insensitive. But allowing yourself to be light-hearted and to take pleasure in clothing is still okay. Even if you wear something super comfy, you can still play with soft fabrics, nice and bright colours, some lace, nice slippers, a bow in your head, a nice make-up. All these small things will make you feel better, you will have more energy, more reasons to smile and more good ideas for the new life, which is right behind the corner. Start now!
Thing about women that live alone; some of them love to dress up for dinner, even if they stay home and are alone. Why? Because they make them feel good and this is also a kind of respect you show to yourself. And it does have an effect on other people. If you are happy, people around you will be happy too. Having been ordered into lockdown and self-isolation, dressing in your finest fashions might feel inappropriate. But allowing yourself to take pleasure in clothing can also be a lifeline. Going nowhere is not a problem. Even if you’re not dressing for others, maintaining your fashion identity – remembering what makes you happy – can be hugely important.
By the way, sometimes it feels like a real luxury just to put on something super chic and elegant with a pair of slippers at home…
