There is a growing number of brands and pieces for sale, intended for women with a fuller figure, and not just those with a couple extra pounds, but also for plus size women. It seems to me that fashion finally let go of black and managed to assemble a complete wardrobe for them, one that involves prints, stripes, and accessories, just like any size 4 collection. In my opinion, what’s most important is to let go of prejudices, consider treating yourself to something nice, and use the right fashion to help boost your confidence. Spring has lots of beautiful things in store, so work every aspect: lingerie, makeup, and a gorgeous hairstyle, and only then choose the clothes to make you feel wonderful. When a woman is neat, with kempt hair, manicured hands, and flawless makeup, extra weight presents no problem, because nobody notices it. So keep in mind, it’s all up to you and how you feel. Here is some of my advice in the hope it will come handy.
Bet on the cleavage
In a beautiful, sophisticated way, of course, but I do believe that this is an appealing part of your body, so you should emphasise it. V-neck (always in combination with the right lingerie!), charming necklaces or chains, ensure to draw attention to the cleavage. The neckline is generally quite important: opt for less round necklines and more V-necks, because it optically elongates your upper body.
Black and white classic
I am all for colours and patterns, but one has to admit that black and white are gorgeous, especially, when we combine them. An elegant black suit always looks wonderful with a white blouse, but you can mix it up a bit by styling a white blazer with white blouse, and keeping the pants dark. Even a jumpsuit, which has to be wide and long enough, can be a good option, just mind the waistline, which has to be visible and accentuated.
Wear belts
Because they are the signposts to your upper and lower body. Belt is a key ingredient for style and it transforms every dress, long or short. If you like Boho style and the 70’s, opt for a bohemian piece: but since tunics in general are rather wide, use a belt to prevent getting swallowed up by the piece. Don’t think a belt makes you wider, on the contrary: you look wider in a shapeless, smoothly falling creation.
Camel color. Is a sure winner!
I can honestly say it will impress and excite you, even head-to-toe, especially, if you’re going for a very elegant, urban and trendy look. A camel coat is a must, and so is a dress. Pumps elongate your feet, and a camel bag is timeless. Camel pieces suit you and speak of your style regardless of your weight. They look gorgeous with gold jewellery, which gives you the opportunity to style each piece in a particular way.
Vertical stripes
They visually elongate your silhouette and right now fashion is giving you the perfect excuse to wear something that looks like elegant pyjamas, because that’s the trend, although you should definitely use a monochrome piece to break it up a bit. You can easily opt for a striped top or jacket, while trousers may be more of a challenge, but a professional sales person or stylist will be able to give you some advice. Footwear is the key here, because high heels are a definite must! There is no doubt about it.
Find the right jeans
You have two options: if you prefer classics, make sure they’re very long and tailored well, following your curves, and not too tight below the knees. If you prefer trendy and avant-garde pieces, then go all in: fringe hem, torn models, lace … What’s important is to keep everything relatively normal, so keep the accessories to a minimum, because they attract the attention where you don’t need any. And if the jeans are quirky, keep the top nice and simple. Always mind the balance.
Lingerie is the key
For two reasons: the first is called confidence, because without the right kind of undergarments to give you support in all the right places, there can be no real confidence. Keep in mind, you have to know your size of bra and panties. The other reason is that the right kind of undergarments shed off a couple of extra pounds, your behind looks better, and the cleavage much firmer. So keep in mind you need support: less transparency and lace, and more support … which doesn’t go to say that the pieces look bad. There are quite a few stunning pieces to choose from at the stores, and on-line as well.
