I’ve already written about how comfortable and easy culottes pants are to make combinations with, even though it may seem difficult at first glance. Culottes are here to stay throughout the spring and autumn, so it’s worth considering, whether to invest in a pair. We can even see them with flats such as sneakers and ballet flats in street fashion, but I like them best when I wear stilettos. It seems to me that they require high heels in order to emphasise the legs as well as the shoes, so the latter is key. Culottes require a certain height and slender build, so they’re not suitable for women with shorter legs or wide hips, because they’re quick to give you a wider appearance. You can wear them with a tight high neck sweater, a thicker knitwear, a shirt and a longer cardigan in the winter, as well as also with a simple T-shirt and a leather jacket. They look good with a coat as well, it just has to be a bit more elegant. This winter there is a lot of white, often from head to toe, which is another lovely combination you should try.
The shoes that you wear with the cullotes can be simple sneakers, or you can go with brogues or ballet flats; as far as high heels are concerned, you can wear anything, but you should stay away from platform soles, because they’re too thick and wide for this type of pants. In the coming spring, you will be able to find cullotes in every colour possible: there will be lots of lighter shades such as pink, blue, yellow, ivory, mint; they’ll recommend combinations with navy, with striped T-shirts, for instance (an option I particularly like), and also a layered look to make everything seem loose and comfortable, almost sporty.
However, if you’re left wanting something more daring, original and special, just something more, I would say you should go for real or faux leather: it looks gorgeous and elegant, they’re usually black, so you’ll have no trouble choosing interesting combinations, because you can do anything you would with a normal pair of pants.
