Estee Lauder is a brand with many years of tradition, which used to impress our mothers, and today the story continues with new generations. Their excellent skincare products, decorative cosmetics and Aerin Lauder’s new line, which I wrote about recently, are setting new standards in cosmetics world. The brand has been around for 111 years, which I find enviable, and they’ve invented so many creams and cosmetic products, it was quite natural to make their way permanently into many celebrities’ bathrooms. I have been using their Advanced Night Repair serum regularly for a while now, which is the top selling cosmetic product in Italy, but this time we’ll take a look at liquid foundations for a flawless complexion, and the wonderful Global Anti Aging Wake Up Balm for all the moments you feel drained, and your skin seems to have a greyish undertone.
Skin care is essential to me, because my face equals work, so it’s really my calling card. It’s obvious that the demands are different at forty than they were fifteen years ago, but I’m not one to complain, because I’m curious by nature, so I seem to enjoy exploring cosmetic industries’ new frontiers and products that help me keep my looks. Camera work requires special foundations, which are oftentimes too heavy for the everyday use. There are some exceptions, of course, but I am not a fan of heavy powders, because they lodge inside the thin lines and tend to exaggerate them. So, if we want to keep our look not only beautiful, but youthful, we should take great care in choosing foundations, highlighters, and concealers. Global Anti Aging Wake Up Balm brightens the complexion, so it’s really the perfect primer for all of those, who don’t mind a bit of radiance and a feeling of light reflecting on your face. The balm fights against signs of aging, and it’s currently one of the best on the market. Its light texture, with no lumps whatsoever, easily turns into your primer, or you can mix it with your foundation before hand to make everything even more natural. If you decide on the latter, it’s best to prepare the mixture in your palm, and then apply with circular motions, and a brush for a perfectly even and smooth finish.
I like a sun kissed, healthy look, so I’m very particular about choosing my foundation, and I often have a hard time finding the right one. For today’s look, I used a combination of different foundations and concealers, and gave it a pop of colour using a gentle pink blush. For the finish, I chose the Ivory Beige Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Makeup. This foundation won me over, because it eliminates the need for a compact powder; it’s already there, integrated, and it actually “stays in place”, meaning it doesn’t smudge the whole day, and the tone is extremely natural. My choice of concealer for all the small imperfections and the area under the eyes is the Double Wear Light Medium Cool, and for the end result I highlighted the T-zone with Double Wear Brush on Glow, which really is a must-have highlighter for every handbag, for every quick touch-up, if you happen to need one (I think the area around the eyes, at least, needs some fresh light!). Pure Color Envy 310 Peach Passion that is somewhere between a gentle pink and a light orange gave my cheeks the very natural pink blush.
I decided on a light pink, subtle lipstick and liner, which I didn’t even really need, but the use of a lip liner improves the lipstick’s lasting, so we’re quite right to indulge. I used the Double Wear Spice lip liner, and Pure Color Envy 210 Bold Innocence lipstick, with some Pure Color Envy 420 Reckless Bloom sculpting gloss in the centre of the lip. As you can see, they’re all nude tones with a slight shimmer. Again, I have to compliment on the extremely smooth, soft texture that has just the right amount of moisture. Even though we live in a time of matte lipsticks, I still prefer a satin finish. I emphasised my lashes with the timeless Sumptuous Extreme mascara that gives you volume and an intensive black colour, always without lumps.
Even if we don’t enjoy heavy makeup, with eye shadows and the whole shebang, a good foundation is the key to stay neat and keep our confidence high. We can achieve a lot with small steps and the right products. Estee Lauder persuaded me with quality and light texture, as well as with a wide selection of tones and undertones, of course; and if I had to pick just one must-have piece out of all the products I used today, it would be the Double Wear Brush on Glow. Warmly recommended!
