The little black dress: how to wear it with a twist

It’s actually always the season for the LBD, because it’s never out of style. LDB’s simple elegance make it an evergreen piece. It’s true that the unforgettable Audrey wore the little black dress with a hat and pearls, added ballet flats and oversized sunglasses, and looked flawless. But today, we can interpret it in many ways, some of which are so pleasantly trendy, you’ll fall for them immediately. I’m sure that the LBD has a special place in every woman’s wardrobe; I have a couple of versions myself and I still find myself buying new ones, simply because they come in so handy. So it’s the LBD season, let’s try the following combinations.

With a glittery blazer

It’s the holiday season and I’m sure that you have a nice glittery piece somewhere in your closet, such as a golden or silver blazer. The LBD can handle all the fashion adventures, because it’s actually very simple, so you can go ahead and make it stand out with a statement piece, such as a glittery blazer. Choose a longer one that falls softly and has some shape in the waist line area.

With some statement jewellery

A large necklace makes sure that all eyes are on it, and the LBD is the ideal piece to support the effort and make it shine in all its beauty. Same goes for large hanging earrings; if you decide to do an updo hairstyle, all the better, it will let the jewellery stand out even more.

With a printed coat

Or a coat in an intense colour, the ones we can see this winter. The LBD is an ideal canvas to play with outerwear, because it brings an air of elegance and etiquette. You should try it out.

A longer LBD and a cropped jacket

Different lengths play a key role in this instance: make sure they’re not the same. To achieve the best effect, the LBD should be around knee length or slightly longer, and the longer coat can be floor length. You can also try the opposite combination like the wonderful Olivia Palermo, who played with blackness; other colour tops are also welcome.

With a furry jacket

Another piece that is here to stay: a furry jacket or vest. Boho-chic style that is reminiscent of the 70’s is so sexy and interesting, we literally want to wear it.

With a leather jacket

This is one of my favourite combinations, because it has just the right amount of rocker vibe, and the leather jacket is as evergreen as the LBD. There is no doubt they become best friends when we find a good contrast: a super elegant dress and a signature motorcycle leather jacket … sounds unbelievable, but it works.

With strong, colourful, patterned accessories

Another advantage of the LBD: it can handle all bizarre accessories, from electric blue colour to animal prints, from metallic studs to metallic shimmer, from red to fluorescent tones. It’s these kind of details that make it trendy and youthful. Even if you’re following the etiquette 100 %, wear some animal print pumps with your knee high LBD and you’ll never go unnoticed.
