How to style a simple white T-shirt

If there is one piece that we all have in our closets and is very, very affordable, it’s a plain white T-shirt. I think we should have two models: one with short sleeves or sleeveless and strapless. It’s perfect for combinations with demanding bottom pieces, for instance with an intricate print, or for those times you want to remain unnoticed (yes, there are such days), and it also looks great with a leather jacket. Add some jewellery (or don’t) to brighten it up. Opt for simple pearl earrings to make the style more elegant. Combined with high waist jeans, it becomes indispensable. It’s simple and always appropriate underneath a blazer or suit. A plain white T-shirt is all of these things and much more.

With a leather jacket

Such a simple combination and it always works. You can style it with jeans, especially for summer evenings or inside, if there’s air-conditioning. A white T-shirt is always a good option for this kind of jacket.

Underneath a slip-on dress

This way you’ll feel less naked and more ready to run your everyday errands. A slip-on dress is very sexy, but it also makes you quite exposed, however, with the help of a white T-shirt it becomes very wearable and less demanding. The T-shirt should be very light, so not 100% cotton.

As a dress

A short dress, that’s true, but you can wear it at home, in bed or to the beach. A long T-shirt always comes in handy and it’s more appropriate for the more intimate moments, but then again it all depends on the length. Some models have a fringe trim, which makes them seem more like an actual dress.

With high waist jeans

This is another great look, it’s effortlessly beautiful. High waist jeans elongate your legs and make your figure look even better, although women haven’t gotten used to this look  yet. Give them a chance and style them minimally. That’s why a white T-shirt is the perfect option.

With a skirt

Whether it’s a mini, a midi or a maxi skirt, a white T-shirt goes well with them all. If the bottom part is very extravagant,  the white top will bring it down a notch, and if it’s a simple one, it will make for an elegant and quiet combination. It’s up to you.

With elegant trousers

Elegant trousers can be black, white or a different colour, but since it’s summertime, they can also be striped, patterned or with a particular detail such as lace, a waist bow or metal studs. Wear high heels and you’re ready for a summer party as well as for the office.

With shorts

I am all for denim shorts, but they’re not the only kind that looks great with a white T-shirt. Any model, be it half cargo, knee-length or short-short, is a good choice. Add some nice jewellery to spice things up and believe me, you’ll love the outcome.

With a blazer

Personally, I really love this style, especially with jeans, because it mixes sporty with elegant and allows for various interpretations. Opt for flat sandals for a daytime look, heels make the look sexier and more elegant. In a nutshell, a simple white T-shirt really is a must-have.
