My darling ladies, how are you? This winter is really something else, neither here nor there. It’s not 2017 anymore and it’s still too early for 2018. Neither really winter yet still not spring. And I’m guessing this applies to our overall wellbeing rather than just related to fashion. It’s been a strange month, I felt like staying at home most days, in my living room with a cup of coffee and a good book, but life is a river full of obligations, so we must do what we can to spice things up, even with the help of fashion. When morale falls, opt for light colors: trust me, pastels have a very positive effect on us, so go ahead, wear them.
We usually associate the cold season with bolder or dark colors, but the beginning of the year is a transitional period, which gives us some room to experiment. A pastel sweater, coat, boots, a dress, perhaps, a beret or a bag … and keep the rest of the outfit light as well, white or beige, even if it gets dirty; all that matters is how you feel! Fashion has lots of wonderful garments to offer, and none of them are dark. You can even find them on sale, in the “timeless department”. If you like pastels, you know they mix and match so well, you cannot miss.
A pleated skirt, suits, blazers, wide leg trousers, and midi dresses are all pieces, which have an air of sophistication and elegance about them, and all the better, if they’re pastel. Even knit pieces in these tones come in handy, they’ll make you glow and improve your mood. So, how do we go about sending the greyness and miserable weather away? Use the wave of very wearable pastel fashion. And take a photo, while you’re at it, because pastels, and you wearing them, are very photogenic. Even a classic camel coat will take on a whole new look, if you style it with pink, mint or soft yellow accessories. You may not find them around the corner, but they have a strong online presence, so take some time and browse.
And it just so happens that I’m wearing pastels myself today. So I’ll have some more laundry to do; that’s nothing, compared to feeling fashionably happy.
