This winter’s six key pieces

I think we can all look forward to this fall, because it’s full of new and beautiful pieces, which will spark up our wardrobes quite nicely. Femininity comes first, and there are also some guidelines that bring the days of past to mind, and seem sporty, so we will have no trouble wearing the pieces and assemble a multifunctional wardrobe. If you walk around some shops these days, you’ll realise intense colours prevail, and velvet literally reigns. Let’s take a look at some other trends today that I personally am quite enthusiastic about, and I will be sure to write more about them in the near future.

Plaid

This was my inspiration yesterday and it’s extremely wearable. Not just the shirt, which may well be a piece you’ll be able to style the most, but also dresses, maxi or mid length skirts, bags, and pants; A larger plaid pattern in burgundy or dark blue is a classic, but there are other shades.

Long coat

This requires high heels, otherwise you’ll step on it, which can be a bother, because the coat will get dirty quicker than others. I advise against choosing a black one, but rather something more original, or even a classic, like camel with a long, soft belt like Max Mara. If you prefer patterns, don’t be shy: even flowers are a welcome choice in the winter.

Stripes

Not necessarily nautical style stripes, even though that’s still a trendy and classical option (so do wear it!), but in this case more along the lines, if you catch my drift, of vertical stripes on trousers or dresses. Fashion wise, it can be quite a task, so nobody will blame you, if you stick to nautical style. And stripes are always in, anyway.

Army green and army style jacket

There is a lot of green this season and this time it’s the shade that suits us all; I always say that army green is just as wonderful on men, because it really looks good on everybody and makes our features stand out, thanks to a mysterious connotation. Nautical style jacket has golden appliqué and insignia, you can’t miss it, and it goes well with jeans: style it with a white blouse for a sophisticated contrast.

Soft, light knitwear

The kind that wraps around you and makes you want to never take it off. Knitwear is a good investment, but the quality has to be high, because the artificial materials are never as warm, and they get damaged sooner. Wool requires some extra care, so pay attention to the way you fold it, and how often you wear it. The colours can be pastel and very light, because this fall, anything goes.

Ankle boots

They can be open toe, with a very high or a mid heel, or they can be totally classical and almost masculine. Ankle boots reign everywhere and are the most wearable footwear at the moment (they split first place with sneakers!). Choose army green, black, camel or burgundy, and you won’t miss. And if it’s at all possible, try to style them with velvet!
