Just when you thought leopard had used up its nine lives, the popular print gets another shot at the big time. But this go-round, the catty pattern isn’t alone. Over the past two seasons, designers have fallen back in love with everything from tigers to zebras and even snakes. The beauty of animal prints is that, despite their bold background, they actually function as neutrals you can build almost any outfit around. Whether it’s looking chic on the red carpet, or going glam for a night out, numerous celebs have been stepping out in the animal inspired design. We have to dismiss the commonly held notion that leopard print is too sexy for the workplace. In truth, there are leopard prints and leopard prints, and some more overt than other. I recommend looking for different colour ways to the classic tan and black.

If a dress feels like too much print, separates are a great way to balance out the leopard. Of course a very good and smart choice is to focus on accessorise, as ballerinas and high heels, small bags, hairbands, belts, hats, scarves, little bows and detail that are a little bit edgy. You can change the colour, the scale, the texture, but the language of the print is always powerful. When you put it on it changes the way you feel. It changes your stature. You don’t put animal print on to sit in the corner. Are you still afraid to wear it? Well, I can understand you, but you have to take a very simple step: just try. Amd start with small things and details as said before, donć t go for a leopard from top to toe, anyway this look would be too much for an elegant woman with a normal life.

There’s the subliminal message that when people put animal print on they’re in charge. That’s why it’s so important at this moment in time. I think it’s a lot to do with women and designers reflecting on the power and place for women today. We are strong, independent, smart, focused and we know exactly what we want. So wearing a bit of leopard, or animal print as well, is like telling the world you have your own story and you your own path, you are free and very conscious of your power.
