High fashion brands have all presented feminine and romantic collections of wedding gowns. Romantique is the perfect name for these dreamy Boho wedding creations, which hint at an Arabian influence, delicately woven in elegant English lines. The gentle lace, sophisticated detailing, open back, and soft lines all embrace the bride’s silhouette. Large, loud, and luscious florals are back. They have conquered the high fashion catwalks with flamboyance, they boasted on models’ heads and busts with a good measure of vanity and were strategically placed in defining places of each creation.
The floral trend is setting peonies and roses as well as more unusual flowers in the spot light, all colorful and inspiring, so that minimalism is pushed aside. One of Christian Dior’s favorite sayings was that flowers are second most beautiful creatures, right after women. An abundance of tulle and a luxurious embroideries, as glittery detailing interchanges with simple lines and minimalistic fabric. Wedding gowns for 2018 are defined by translucent lace corsets, unusual details, such as oversized back bows, fairy-tale wide skirts and lots of crystals. However, there are also basic creations, tailored straight, with clean lines and no excess adornments. You can complement this soft look with glittery high heel shoes and statement jewelry. Also presented on the cat walks were some short creations, for example a 50’s style sleeveless knee-length bell dress. Jumpsuit also made its way to the shows. We like the single strap wide-leg type with oversized ruffles, very sophisticated and outside the box.
A wedding, when the newlyweds promise to love one another in front of family and friends, is one of the most important moments in our life. This is why they usually want everything to be perfect, from the choice of location to the type of confetti. What sticks in our minds most, is the attire the newlyweds opt for. The bride’s, especially, attracts a lot of attention, because it’s usually quite special and elegant, although the groom’s is not to be overseen. That is why many brands and wedding salons prepare avant-garde and contemporary creations each season. While the bride is usually in white and this trend is predominant this year as well, some special shades are seen: snow- or off white, ivory, cream, beige, as well as the more daring golden and silver, which are gaining popularity.
A bride who wants to stand out will opt for an unusual shade, from pastel rose to light blue or sea-foam green. The shades are inspired by the Orient, they’re soft and gentle, but very noticeable on the other hand. If you’re not afraid to stand out from a crowd, designers will dress you in denim or fiery red, which is a show stopper. The most lavish creations for 2018 are certainly adorned with lace. This delicate material can enrich an entire dress or just some details. Their main impact is on skirts, corsets and sleeves, because they hug closely to the skin and seem sensual and noble. Embroideries are another key element, because they give the dress an air of refined sophistication. There are many sparkly crystals, they glisten on light and fluttery fabrics, such as tulle, organdy and silk. After a few years in the background, bows are back to woo us: large, small, shy or dominant; some brides will be enchanted, while others may steer clear.
