It has just entered oblivion stage, or it almost did, because women figured out, it can really make us look older. Pantsuits used to be a necessary evil, at least in the business world. It was a way for women to prove their dedication and strength; let’s face it, the belief that a woman cannot be beautiful and attractive as well as intelligent and successful took something away from our sex appeal and femininity. But, my darlings, girl power has proven that men were wrong and so a successful business woman today is able to wear a fitted dress, if she knows how to wear it and if she’s comfortable in it. As we know, everything comes around in fashion, so it’s no surprise that the matchy pantsuits are back.
This makes the following a legitimate question: how do we wear a pantsuit without letting it age us? A piece of advice to start: opt for a contemporary model, high waisted torusers (almost a must), tartan (warmly recommended), swap high heels for sneakers (not necessarily) and don’t forget about velvet (no, it doesn’t look like pajamas, it looks sophisticated). The new pantsuit is quite different from what you may still have in your closet, which belongs to a time past (you do realize, you will never wear it again, don’t you?), so be brave and try styling your pantsuit with a Boho blouse or, if you prefer simplicity, a basic T-shirt.
The colors are also distinct and not conventional in the least. Dark green, royal blue (it looks great on velvet!), mustard yellow, pink, light blue…And there are also the classic colors, which remain fashionable and trendy. Make sure to pay attention to the length of the jacket: it shouldn’t be too short, especially in case of wider hips. And always keep in mind you should do something unexpected, for instance with accessories: a very classic suit will become less classic when styled with animal print pumps or a bit of red (still very much in trend). So find contrasts and create a new balance.
