Admittedly, I was just as surprised as anyone else, because none of us expected that there will be so much of it. It seems that it has awakened us from the fall-winter slumber and made sure we become instantly noticeable. Red is a juicy, sexy and passionate color. It’s the color of strength and courage. It’s also undoubtedly the color for a woman who dares, but not for all. I don’t wear it myself, but rather reach for it rarely and with great respect, because it can sometimes devour me. This is why I’m not so excited about the idea of a head-to-toe red outfit, but it’s just because I wouldn’t know how to wear it and I would probably feel a bit like a traveling traffic light, but that’s a personal thing.
Coats, sets, dresses, accessories, lipsticks, and nail polish. It all points to red being the color worth opting for, because it always ensures that you get noticed, although it can also be the cause of some trouble. It has been proven that red is a risky choice for the workplace, because it attracts too much attention and women tend to perceive it as too dominant and aggressive. But then again, how harmful can a red sweater with a lovely inscription or a reindeer be? That’s right, I’m talking about the Bridget Jones collection, which to me seems quite wearable and not in the least dangerous, how about you?
If you pay close attention to street fashion, you’ll realize that red has taken over boots as well: over the knee, very sexy, and yet elegant, if you know how to wear them, of course. Red boots are a demanding piece that may not be the first choice for everyday wear, but still. Maybe the oncoming holiday season will let this one slide. Don’t forget about the lips, matte or glossy, and you’re also free to play around with burgundy, which is an even sexier, more appealing shade. That is what makes all shades interesting in a way; from fiery to dark, which is reminiscent of a ripe cherry which you can just as easily wear in the summer.
Red can be sensitive, because it may be difficult finding different shades that match. It’s better to style it with pink for the perfect and fascinating color blocking effect, which is one of the big trends of the moment. If you’re still not persuaded, opt for a velvet accessory or detail: a bag, pumps, belt, perhaps a hat or a new coat, which is going to make you stand out even in the dark. Don’t forget about nail polish and lipstick, simply add some mascara and you won’t need anything else. In all its complicated perfection, red still works and this winter adores it. Don’t go anywhere without it. I admit, I bought a bit of red myself and I’m still testing it, in small doses…just like sweet wine, it’s an acquired taste. Cheers!
