The advice is simple: replace black with navy blue and you won’t regret it! I recently wrote about how these two colors are actually surprisingly compatible and it’s easy to match them, but navy blue is even more sophisticated. Wear it with white, beige, powder pink, opt for a blazer, pants, dress, jumpsuit, and every possible accessory.
The newest pieces include a pleated midi skirt and pleated pants, in either wool or synthetic materials. Don’t forget about navy blue scarves, hats, gloves, and belts, and footwear, of course‒all the better, if it’s velvet. Navy blue is as intense as a starry night sky and always seems formal enough, which is in no way criticism, but rather a praise: I like a bit of glamour in every day outfits, because it’s always fun. Even furry pieces are a smart investment, for instance, a longer navy blue jacket looks great with either black leather pants, or basic jeans.
Of course we cannot forget the nautical style, which is still high on my list of top looks. Stripes and polka dots are still trendy, so are golden buttons on a coat or jacket, cufflinks and whatnot, everything that combines nautical style with military, but always in a very elegant manner. If we give navy blue some more thought, there’s still denim in every possible version: jeans, jackets, jumpsuits, dresses, skirts etc. Dark blue jeans are perfect for the winter season, and it’s best to brighten up the look with white, such as lace Victorian blouses, which are very fashionable right now.
Consider a coat. Personally, I would opt for a military style, there are a lot to choose from and they’re all beautiful in their own way. A bit of gold jewelry, petit cross body bag, velvet ankle boots, and you’ll look wonderful.
