I find it interesting that this combination used to be almost forbidden! Sort of like red and pink, which are going through a renaissance. It was Mr Armani that introduced the hand in hand walking of dark blue and black, which made the fashion public accept the simple fact that it works. And it works very well. If black is the colour of winter and deep emotions, dark blue is extremely sophisticated as well as the perfect option to keep us from an all black everything look. I have a lot of dark blue and black pieces in my wardrobe: two tone ballet flats, a blazer with contrasting lapels, a ruffled blouse with a velvet bow, and even black pants with a vertical lateral blue stripe. And it’s all so easy to combine and wear. All you have to keep in mind is this rule: the colours don’t mix well, when the blue is so dark it starts to resemble black; and soon you look like you got dressed in the dark and missed the colour combination.
Beautiful coats and evening occasions
Gorgeous two-tone coats are interesting pieces that enliven your winter wardrobe and complement it beautifully. Opting for something with contrasting lapels or collar keeps you looking elegant and fashionable. Similar is true for evening occasions: dark blue and black seamlessly unite in silk and velvet; these combinations are simply flawless and beautiful beyond words.
Contrasting pants or skirt
It’s a simple colour blocking idea, which gives your look a nice finishing touch. Don’t be afraid to style a dark blue blouse with black pants or vice versa, and same goes for a skirt and blouse. The latter is the key, because it’s an elegant piece, which goes a long way. There are never enough blouses.
Suits and other office appropriate combinations
It isn’t called classic without good reason. While a suit is the more rigid option, it’s still noticeable, and it looks sophisticated, rather than strict. You can wear a blue and black combination to work and stick to these two colours throughout the look. It always works!
Bag, shoes and accessories
Everything can follow the same style, and you shouldn’t neglect attention to details, because they’re the tell-tale signs of your style. Dark blue and black allow for many combinations and don’t require too much imagination, because it’ll be as clear as day, which shade of dark blue looks best with black; and they will attract attention once you put them together.
Charms of interior design
It may look a bit like a hotel room, because homes are usually lighter, and dark colours can make a room seem smaller than it is; but we can still say that certain pieces look great in dark blue or black, and even better, when they’re together. Even bed linens are a good solution, but of course that depends on the rest of the furniture, but just a bit of colour here and there can be an interesting novelty.

The key to looking like a power player at work is making everything black except your sharpest navy blue sport jacket.
Lovely Lovely Lovely
With a navy shirt and black sweater you’ll still be put together, but hey—maybe you’re an architect. Maybe you’re an artist. Maybe you’re just a woman who knows how to dress with confidence.
The navy polo with black jeans is an innovation on stuffy country club style, while the dual color navy and black kicks make your look coordinated without too much matching.
