Shells, stars, sand, small bottles and infinte pleasures that remind us summer, vacation and a really happy mood. This hot season is all about jewelry and I adore this trend, because it reminds me of my childhood, when we use to buy necklaces and bracelets nearby the sea, as souvenirs of a happy summer, that we of course never wore in September. Now, this trend is quite different, because shells and pearls come with gold and all the pieces are more sophisticated, so you can wear them also for a special evening.
At Altuzarra’s Spring/Summer 2019 show, nearly every model donned a pair of gold shell earrings. At Etro, the trend got an upgrade thanks to crystal and pearl embellishments. What at first seemed like a touristy beach trend could now be easily incorporated into anyone’s everyday wardrobe in an elevated way. This time around, gold and pearl iterations are perfectly suited for someone with more of a classic style. Playful, neon hues are great for anyone looking to explore spring’s eclectic color trends. For those who lean more minimal, a simple cowrie bracelet will do the trick.
This season, the shell jewelry trend is everywhere and consumers will see designers offering an array of necklaces, rings, earrings, and hair accessories featuring delicate petite cowries, puka shells, pearls, and gold sculptural pieces shaped like seashells. Even if you aren’t looking for statement jewelry, there are plenty of delicate necklaces and bracelets available that will add a subtle beachy vibe to any outfit. Asymmetrical pearl earrings and diamanté hair slides may be a recurring theme, but it’s shell-embellished pieces that continue to dominate the accessories landscape this season.
For me it’s a way to keep summer in my heart and what is even more amazing is the fact, that I will wear for sure these pieces even during winter. As a talisman, a dreamcatcher, an amazing photo of this July, which will never fade.
