Whenever I travel to fashion weeks around the world, I notice Scandinavian girls. Perhaps, because I find fair women quite interesting, after all they can get away wearing wildly red shades of lipstick and always achieve perfection with their messy hair, so even a pony tail looks wonderful on them. Or perhaps it’s because I’m dark myself, but the fact remains that fair women attract my attention, as do the clothes they wear…they’re just different. The new icons all come from Scandinavian countries: not only are they gorgeous, they’re also educated, very tall and slender, with an almost model-like physique, a beautiful smile, translucent skin and, of course, a sophisticated sense of fashion, even the quirkiest. Jeanette Madsen is one of the top icons at the moment, a Dane and a fashion editor, who simply doesn’t know how to stay below the radar…After all, why would she? The reason I’m writing about her is because I love the way she dresses: it’s a fun, highly individual and recognizable style, full of fashionable pieces, and so wearable at the same time. She’s not afraid of colors and this is her great advantage.
She says colors make her feel good: I couldn’t agree more and I believe we don’t wear them enough. The dullness of winter and rainy days provide no excuse: it would be good to wear more colors to make us happier, as you’ve probably discovered for yourself already. Her color combinations can be unexpected and contrasting, but they always work. And don’t get me wrong, it’s not only a matter of photography, she looks just as amazing in person. The bangs make her vivacious, she sometimes reminds me of Kate Moss, and other times of Brigitte Bardot, no wonder, she was only four years old, when she changed outfits up to four times a day. At least that’s what she claims.
She has a wonderful sense of contrasts and proportions: tight always goes together with narrow, a colorful outfit always requires at least one white or black piece. Her top choice piece is a blazer and she says there are never too many, because they’re always the perfect solution for a great style. She can be a bit eccentric at times, but that’s just the way it is in the world of fashion: you can get a bit crazy now and then, because you’ll always be forgiven. Plus, a picture says more than a thousand words in fashion, so check her out, find her on Pinterest or Instagram and steal some of her ideas, because they’re all worthwhile. And original.

It’s not easy to go from top designers to sportswear and make each look high end, but somehow these girls have mastered that task. A simple hoodie or sporty sweatshirt turns über-cool in this crew’s incredibly fashionable and capable hands. Paired with dressy pants and heels, teamed with denim and a designer bag, or boldly worn as a full ensemble, athleisure pieces take on an entirely new meaning when the Scandinavian fashion girls don them. It makes us want to go find a hoodie ASAP.
The best part of our signature style: With sunglasses this big, no need for makeup!! 🙂
Their statement-making choices also show self-confidence and a true mastery of their own unique style.
Not only do these women speak multiple languages and have huge social media followings, they also know how to challenge fashion rules and make their everyday lives an incredible runway. Love this post!
If you follow any of the Scandinavian It girls on Instagram, you’ve likely spotted them gallivanting around the world as a fashionable squad, often decked in the hottest designers from head to toe.
