There is a piece I simply adore, because it always comes in handy: a jacket. I love it because it’s perfect for the changing seasons and it often ensures, especially when styled with jeans, you project an elegant image of a modern woman. And I love mixing different elements, of course, such as denim with a velvet jacket, a real must have this fall. The summer also brought us some light, unstructured jackets without lining, often striped or simply white, which so subtly make sure you look perfect. And there are other models of course, which you simply have to have, because you will be wearing them a lot and they’re all timeless. The following is my personal top five list.
Leather jacket
I found my perfect black leather jacket yesterday; it’s not like I didn’t have one yet, but I finally found one with a golden zipper and buttons, which is relatively difficult with a black leather jacket. It’s not too tight and it’s the perfect length ‒ and interestingly enough, the cameraman I have been wandering around Milan with found it. He saw it and said “You have to try this one on, you were looking for one just like this last year”. And it’s true: a leather jacket can be instantly persuasive, and it’s a piece that always comes in handy. Especially the black, which is a 100 % useful and oh, so sophisticated.
Denim jacket
This piece is going through a revival this year. Denim is there in all possible versions and it’s really nice to see, how quickly and definitely the denim jacket has found its place in our wardrobes to stay. Choose a slightly longer one and not too tight, light and dark, because you will need them both. It can have embelishments or be smooth, but this is my advice: if you haven’t got one yet, choose a simple design, dark and wearable, because you won’t regret it.
Bomber jacket
There are still plenty out there and I like them because they fit the changing season. The winning colours are beige, powdery rose and black, all the better if they’re satin. I also admire them in army shades and complemented by golden jewellery. They look good on jeans as well as with more elegant pieces; they usually have a writing on the back, or they can be totally smooth and quite elegant. They’re slightly reminiscent of college days, and maybe that’s why I’m so fond of them.
Blazer
There is only one piece of advice: have as many as you can. There can never be enough blazers, just like shoes or bags. They are a solution for every occasion, making them the most practical piece of wardrobe. I love them with jeans and high heels, it’s just such a nice look to me. Striped blazer and a velvet one are must haves; they’re both multi-purpose, each in its own way. Velvet is mostly a winter fabric, so it will keep you warm. My choice? Royal blue, without a doubt.
Trench
Another piece you should have. I strongly recommend beige or dark blue, and 100 % classical, of course. It’s the best solution for a rainy day, and so fashionable at the same time, especially with jeans or skinny trousers and heels. I like it because it works both on young girls as well as ladies, it’s always flawless and quite a statement piece, without making too much noise. Check out Michael Kors’ models, which are wonderful and relatively affordable.
