I honestly confess, I am not a winter person; I don’t enjoy it. I am always cold and at the same time I don’t like the heavy garments because they constrict movement. That’s why I’m always faced with a dilemma of what to wear to make me feel beautiful and comfortable at the same time, while eliminating the super-heavy knitwear and thick tights that make my head hurt just by looking at them. I believe that even winter fashion allows for some interesting combinations ‒ we just have to be innovative with our shopping decisions, forget the classics and buy at least some key pieces that will definitely spice up our outfits.
A furry jacket
I have always liked this piece, but you should mind the colour ‒ it doesn’t have to be black. Actually, I warmly advise choosing something completely different to offer a nice contrast, such as silver, beige, powder or anything along those lines. I recently tried an emerald green and was instantly infatuated, so much so it even made me forget about the fog that has been reigning on the coastline these days.
A bomber jacket
It’s shorter and so a bit less useful than the previous one, but it can bring some excitiment to your outfit. It requires you to be slim because it is puffy itself and therefore visually widens you; even so, play with the colours, run away from monotony and choose something extraordinary!
A pant suit with a twist
It’s not a written rule that a pant suit in black or grey is the only elegant one. Try a lively colour that you can wear with a white or a black shirt, some completely elegant pumps and a small handbag. I’d go for the electric blue, because it’s so out there it’s wonderful.
A wide midi skirt
I like the fact that it looks so vintage, almost old-fashioned, that it’s just the right amount of elegant. It should be either pleated or an A-line cut and you should pay attention to the quality of the material: choose wool for its heaviness, warmth and the beautiful way it falls.
A masculine suit
Wear it with an unbuttoned blouse or a silk lace shirt for a super sexy effect. Mind the lingerie you wear, especially if it’s visible (no push-up!) and by all means, round up the look with a longer coat that should be straight-cut, figure hugging, and can be a classic black. Tres chic.
Parisienne stockings
These are long stockings that should be worn with a skirt, of course. They spice up any look; you wear them over neutral or skin tone tights. These require slender legs and a shorter skirt; if you’re no longer very young, give wearing black opaque stockings a go.
A long knitted piece instead of a coat
I have written extensively about this and even made it the styling of the day: it’s super comfy and very warm! I’ll admit it’s not much use in strong north wind and snow, so check the weather forecast.
A furry bag
What is there to add? It’s beautiful, soft and warm; it’s just wintery and new enough to bring new life to whatever you’re wearing. I like the way it looks, it’s like a small stuffed animal toy; so lovely.
A poncho
Nope, we’re still not rid of it, and all sings show that it will be hanging around for a while. Olivia Palermo is super chic in a wide black version that you could wear over jeans as well. Always gives out just the right amount of etiquette and ethno vibes.

The knitted pieces are the best! Also instead of a coat 🙂
