Even though makeup artists say the times of contouring are slowly coming to an end, because it looks too artificial and unrealistic, women have become quite used to different palettes that make it possible to have flawless complexion. You don’t have to be a contouring technique genius like Kim Kardashian, far from it, it wouldn’t even be convenient, but it’s still good to know that every face demands two to three different foundations to let it shine in all its beauty. What you need besides the traditional and classical liquid foundation, which you probably already have, is a palette of several compact powders for a bit of shading: lighter under the eyes and at the tip of the nose, darker along the hair line, and the natural one on the forehead and chin. This type of palettes are also ideal for quick touch-ups when you don’t have the time to do a full makeup and you can only use your fingers: it refreshes your look quickly and efficiently, because all you have to do is highlight the dark circles under your eyes and give your cheeks some colour; you’ll look more relaxed this way.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit
Anastasia is an eyebrow master, but this kit is just as good. Even though I usually only buy her brow products I came across this kit by chance and it’s very good: six different shades, which aren’t too heavy and don’t give too much coverage, are just about right for every day of the year.
Too Faced Cocoa Contour Chiseled to Perfection
I’ve written about this product before, because I found it this year in the U.S.A. and began using it. Besides its beautiful packaging (like all Too Faced products), it’s also very effective. I don’t use the brush, I apply it using my fingertips, because that gives me the feeling that the colours are more natural and the transitions between the shades softer.
Tarte Tarteist Contour Palette
This is perhaps one of Tarte’s most classical and top selling products; I don’t know if you are familiar with them, but they have excellent lip glosses and lipsticks and they do a lot of natural colours and nude looks. This palette is a must have, because it’s perfect to have in your bag, and it also has a white shade that always comes in handy (even as an eye shadow). If your skin is very dry, I should say that it may not be the best fit for you as the powders are not that creamy.
Smashbox #Shapematters Palette
It’s an all-in-one, not just contouring powders but also eye shadows. As usual, Smashbox offers high quality, beautiful products that are evergreen. They don’t follow trends, but they do care about a woman’s beauty, so they’re always the first to come up with practical products that we simply have to have.
Guerlain “Terracotta Bayadere” Face & Eyes Contour Palette
I like this set because it contains a wonderfully intensive baby pink blush that is just right. You’ll have no problem figuring out the different shades of brown that are suitable for all complexions and ages. Their highlighter is very good, you can also use it just below the eyebrows to beautifully open up your eyes.
