Pleated skirt: how to wear it

Finally, an article about my favourite piece of the moment. Why do I love pleated skirts so much? There are countless reasons, and some of stem from a long time ago, as I remember little Lorella, peeking from behind her wonderful mother’s pleated skirt … I’ve always loved that fabric, the folds, colours, the feeling that something indescribably elegant is going on around the slender legs, which is why even today my wardrobe contains many different pleated skirts. It’s also why I salute today’s fashion, which offers them to us so generously. And I can tell you, I want them all! My latest is a light blue model with golden shimmer, I even combine it with a bomber jacket, and it looks great and very youthful with a pair of sneakers. A pleated skirt is a timeless piece that has strongly influenced fashion history, and women have been wearing them for years. Will this trend ever cease? I don’t think so … It’s a good thing some things last forever. Even in fashion.

Chequered patterns, leather models, lace, bold colours, and even wool versions all define the winter of 2017. I’ve noticed lots of metallics, which match so nicely with a simple black sweater. I’m still all about combining elegance with simplicity, because it has a gorgeous effect. Leather or faux-leather pleated skirt is another piece you can wear for any occasion (let me also hint that a style of mine with this skirt and a lace blouse is coming up soon); style it with a long coat or short faux-fur jacket, and you’ll create a perfect look.  You don’t necessarily have to wear a pleated skirt with high heels, you can opt for brogues for an appealing style. If you adore a very feminine look, pleats are the way to go for a contemporary woman, who spends a lot of time at work and wants to wear a comfortable and very fashionable piece. The lush look comes hand in hand with the material, which will always be trendy.

Don’t forget, a pleated skirt is a piece you can wear in the summer as well. Unless it’s made of wool, of course, it’s a seasonless piece. It’s this precise continuity that fashion has been looking for in the past years that offers women pieces that last longer than two months, and are in turn a sound investment. Pleats remain attractive , feminine and afresh addition to the multitude of pieces and trends that come and go. Similar is true for a pleated dress, which is very chic, and a must have for every woman, styled with high heels. So, let’s enjoy the trend which brings so many wonderful possibilities our way!
