Quick wardrobe update: You don’t usually need many pieces to brighten your wardrobe, a nice accessory here and there, like just the right bag or a bigger piece of jewellery, a change of shoes, a pop of colour … and voilá, change happens. I think this season offers a lot of pieces that are not only a seasonal fad, but rather seasonal combinations that will still work next year. This is my advice: go for classical pieces, but find ones that have that special something (like a leather jacket in an unusual colour, sneakers with print instead of monochromatic, higher waisted pants instead of regular jeans); I chose seven pieces that will instantly change your wardrobe and lift your spirits, I’m sure!
Beautiful earrings
They’re right next to our face, so it’s crucial to choose the right shape, a nice colour, a stone that goes nicely with our basic colours. This summer, the earrings are quite noticeable and often hanging ones, because ethno is currently the most popular trend. Wear them with an updo and that’s all you need. Not only this ‒ jewellery, like red lipstick, has the magical ability to make our day better. If you find yourself in a bad mood, just invest in new earrings. I don’t know why, but it surely has a very positive effect.
Elegant high waisted skirt
There are many models and prints, you can find smooth or wide shapes and various lengths, from midi to almost mini. Personally, I prefer midi, because I find it the most wearable, other than that, it all depends on personal taste and beautiful or less beautiful legs. Again, you’ll be perfect with ethno prints or pastels or you can be even more daring and experiment with some bold colours, why not, all that matters is you style them with a monochromatic top. With this styling, high heels are a must!
Leather dark brown bag
It’s definitely the colour of the season, and this model was love at first sight for me, so it’s already in my closet (Tony Burch). I adore the natural colour of the leather, it goes nicely with leather shoes and belts, and naturally toned garments. I especially appreciate the crescent shape, it’s very wearable and, finally, big enough to fit everything I need. Well, almost …
Different leather jacket
Not black, because I’m sure you already have it and it’s quite enough to have one. It’s time for other colours: metallic shades, animal prints, emerald green, cobalt blue, powder, white … There are so many options. This jacket will become your ally and you’ll quickly fall for it, so have no fear, it’s wearable and useful.
Far out shoes
It seems to me that we still have trouble finding good shoes where I’m from, and women complain about it often. There are plenty classics, but sometimes it’s good to have something far out, different, noticeable. Try a flat model and colours, it can be a male looking shoe, keep the colours bold and the contrast will do all the work. Or you can get high heel pumps, also with a noticeable pattern: flowers, dots, stripes, lace … Anything goes!
Romantic dress
Wear it with a leather jacket for a rocker’s vibe or with long knitwear ‒ it works either way. It’s quite functional and useful to go to work in, for dinner or for your off duty time. All the better, if it’s made of jersey, or you could look for a silk one (although it’s much more delicate) or cotton. Forget about linen, it crinkles too much, and who has the time nowadays, to run around with an iron; I’m all for making our lives simpler.
Monochromatic piece in a wild shade
I chose a dress for a photo session, but it could also be a jacket or trousers, being a matter of taste. There are many colours and the warmer season is calling for them; you should grab some. Add a nice piece of jewellery and you’ll look perfect, or you can play around with shoes, belts, hats, bags. There’s still mint and powder pink, they also work in emerald green, red, burgundy or wisteria (there will be quite a lot of this colour in the summer). Opt for for bold colours, especially if you have fair skin.
