I am really a fan of this trend, the perfectly natural and simple flat sandals, because they seem sophisticated despite the fact that they’re completely flat and mostly unadorned. Along with the Boho style came the wave of leather and suede, so it’s not that surprising that the world of footwear adapted to it with the ancient Romans inspired and very wearable models. This type of sandals require only one important detail: pedicured feet and nice nail polish; other than that, they can be combined with mostly everything. They look good with a long skirt or dress, they work nicely with a midi or mini skirt (mind the calves, if they’re fuller, then try wearing something else, because the totally flat soles emphasise this part of the leg). So, if you like a simple wardrobe, consisting of cotton, ethno blouses, white jeans, printed blouses with small flowers, if you love minimalistic jewellery, these sandals were made precisely for you.
You can also style them with bigger pieces of jewellery: colourful beads, ribbons, silver or gold are just calling for these simple and flawless sandals. Leather plays an important part and there is lot of it; sometimes it’s combined with silver or golden embellishments, and yet the look remains totally simple. Flat footwear is the ideal choice for the beach and hot summer days, when the feet can swell up a bit and high heels become rather demanding to wear. So opt for for quality materials and avoid faux ones, because they make it impossible for the skin to breathe. Invest in a nice fringe bag, not necessarily brown, you can play around with colours, even bolder ones and attract more attention this way. If you like the long dresses of this seson, you’ll quickly realise that flat sandals are perfect for floor-length ones and make them instantly much more wearable.
Cotton and jeans pieces are important elements that beautifully round up the ethno story: pants, simple dresses, T-shirts and off the shoulder blouses all go nicely with flat footwear, and the good news is that this kind of sandals are so universally useful they’ll never go out of style.
