This spring's new jeans and denim

This is one of the trends I’m quite interested in, because women spend a lot of time in jeans nowadays, and it’s nice to know that we can expect some novelty in this area. What you can expect is a wave of playful models and other pieces, because we’re not just talking about jeans, but also denim shirts, jackets, skirts, jumpsuits etc. Stars are fashion designers’ top choice, which they’ve already hinted at last year, and by now they’re a fun addition to every piece, especially jeans (all over in Stella McCartney’s version) and shirts (country style is a big trend).

Mom jeans, A-line skirts, wide jackets all tell a story of a very casual style that resonates in wide cropped pants, which you can wear with either heels or sneakers. If you happen to be in the market for a new pair of jeans, make sure they have embelishments such as flowers, glitter, stars, hearts … anything goes, as long as you keep in mind that it’s best to keep the rest of the outfit subdued, if you opt for loud patterns. Denim jacket is going through a revival: not only is it gorgeous, but also extremely useful ‒ you can use it to style anything, even a little black dress. To tell you the truth, I used to think denim jackets were totally passé, but I got used to them and I can now sincerely say I wouldn’t mind having one with stars and metal studs … However, I am still sensitive to the same tone styles, because wearing denim head to toe is a rather demanding look to pull off.

Even the super elegant Balmain came out with fitted denim blazers, which you wear with the most elegant trousers. Dark tones prevail among the denim colours, although as the season will get warmer, they will get lighter, and everything will become more airy, as it usually does. But right now, it’s time for the darker models that are timeless. Quality jeans are a piece you will wear for years to come, so it’s always a smart buy. Choose an ankle length model that isn’t too slim and has a high waist. It may seem a bit retro, but the high waist makes it very feminine. I won’t even start on the aspect of comfort, because I think everyone knows by now that high waist is the way to go, if you’re a woman who spends most her time up and about, and is no longer twenty.
