Pantone just unveiled its color of choice for next year, and it’s unlike anything we’ve seen before. That’s because ‘Veri Peri’ is a totally new color Pantone invented from scratch—the first time the color company has ever manufactured a whole new color rather than picking one from its pre-fixed palette. The lilacy-blue color is bursting with good vibes, one that looks good on everything from cardigans to candle votives. This periwinkle shade combines “the faithfulness and constancy of blue” with “vivifying violet red undertones,” so fans of purple hues are likely to feel extra inspired.
Of course we can look out for very peri in art, home decor and even technology in the coming year, but fashion lovers should also take note. To help bring that “spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence” into your everyday wardrobe, I’ve rounded up clothes and accessories in very peri (or the closest hues we could find). As the name would no doubt imply, the shade is a form of periwinkle blue, although this one has distinct red undertones. It’s a unique selection for Pantone, being the first time that the color institute has ever manufactured a new color themselves for the Color of the Year rather than selecting one from their endless archive.
