They say that the eyebrows frame the face, and luckily for us, we no longer have to rely on our blunt tweezers and terrible eyesight to turn our hairs into face-framing works of art. There are now many innovative treatments offering to trim, tidy, and transform our eyebrows. One newer — and increasingly popular — treatment is called brow lamination. Brow lamination is a chemical treatment process to the eyebrow hair, in which the intention is to take out any of the curl or kinks or texture and make the brows lie very flat and straight. It is the same solution that people use for lash perms. Once the brows are chemically straightened, they can be re-positioned into a full, lifted shape. After the process is complete, the effects are immediate. Brow lamination can last up to six to eight weeks.
The hairs also become more pliable after lamination, making this a great service if you are looking for a ‘fluffy’ brow without the need for a brow gel, or if your natural brow hairs are curly, unruly, or point downwards. People who tend to like brow lamination often have unruly brows and brow gel isn’t enough. The biggest risk is that some people just don’t like it and then there’s no way to undo it. Experts don’t recommend using at-home brow lamination kits, as this is a chemical process that opens the bond of the hair. To avoid any damage to the hair, they’d recommend leaving lamination to the professional.
The beauty of this service is that it can be customized to each person’s face shape, eye shape, and desired brow shape. Although the brushed-up, bold and fluffy brow tends to be quite popular at our studio, brows can be laminated in a variety of different ways.
