We often assume lighter, pastel shades are to be kept firmly in the realms of spring/summer territory only, but what if I tell you that winter pastels are a thing? Beside everything we are slowly approaching spring, which is the season of bright shades. Everything is coming back again: the pale yellow, the baby blue, the blush pink, the mint green…There’s a whole host of ways you can incorporate pastels into your wardrobe to instantly lift any outfit. You can always play with a total look, or better opt for some pastel accessories, like shoes and bags. There are numerous of ways how to look chic and hot in pastel looks.
Powdery pink, baby blue, and cool mints gonna look fresh on you, all you need is to create a functional outfit that is both sweet and harmonized. The number one rule of wearing a pastel winter outfit is to wear the right shoes. Nothing can ruin the excellence of a gorgeous pastel look faster than pairing it with black shoes. You need your shoes to have the same lightness as the rest of your outfit. If needed, the shoe can be a little darker, but please don’t push it. Hands down, the most versatile shoe colors to wear with a pastel winter outfit are white and blush pink. I was lucky enough to find this amazing pair of SJP in the right shade of grey. They are always so perfect with jeans!
Pay attention to the bag, never black and never too dark. Everyone thinks you need black. You do not. White or ivory are really better, plus they will add some more light, so feel free to play with them. A lot of people probably think that it would be hard to make pastels work for fall and winter, but it’s really not! Certain textures are just naturally going to give off more fall/winter vibes than others. Think chunky knits, tweed, faux fur/leather, and sweatshirt material.
My style is as follows: jeans JCrew, blouse Anthropologie, shoes SJP, bag My Lovely Bag, necklace Kenneth Jay Lane.
