I realize some of you may be more enthusiastic about this trend than others, but this shoe style stems from men’s fashion. They’re low, extremely comfortable and sometimes have a tough look about them, but the good news is that they come with metal studs, lace, glitter, fringe etc. This makes them suitable to wear with maxi skirts, cropped pants or jeans. We’ve been longing for comfortable footwear for a long time, and all that seemed appropriate were ballet flats, but now there’s more to choose from. Will we get used to this trend? Probably, I’m already there!
The Derby model is taking center stage : it reminds me of men’s footwear, but it’s really meant for a sophisticated woman, and that’s part of the charm. You can wear it with anything, the only exception are evening occasions, when the outfit is perhaps too demanding for shoes that want mostly to be comfortable. I see derby shoes with a white shirt, a lace bra, jeans, and a petite leather bag. Studs give them a rock’n’roll vibe, whereas fringe brings some glamour to the look.
Platform soles, hearts, lacquered patent-leather, heels that turn into bursts of imagination and bravado, embellished with pearls, studs or glitter‒these are all key elements of the new season in footwear. Truth be told, not all models are that appealing or beautiful, because they tend to be too rough looking, and I believe derbies should retain some of the initial elegance, which the platform sole take away from. But again, a matter of taste. When I see them together like this, I realise just how many different interpretations low shoes allow for, each is interesting, and it all depends on personal style. My advice is to opt for this type of shoe, when you’re wearing a romantic outfit to really get the most out of the contrast between the coarse and the less coarse. Man’s fashion inspired style is also in, but it’s not for all women, and it can be a bit too offbeat. Two-tone low derby or contrasting lacing, which you can switch back and forth , especially satin, are good, elegant options.
I believe everyone will find their own fit in this myriad of options.

For most of us, a solid color or maybe just some classic stripes, or a pair of slides with a classic print like leopard, is really all we need. Godd tips here! Love, Emily
When wearing low shoes, make them a statement … something to show off. The best way to do that is to make sure they are seen, so your pants need to fall right above your ankle bone. Cuff them, hem them, cut them. Do something to make them that perfect length.
Yes, you can wear your sneakers outside of the gym, but there are rules!
