Definitely one of the winter colours, and at the same time an eternal one, because of its simplicity and sophistication. Black is often the easiest choice, it’s the choice colour of artists, and the shade we often subconsciously choose to wear, because we need some peace and quiet, a break from the world. That’s alright, though, because it looks good on everyone, but it shouldn’t become too rigid, mostly because fashion is all about femininity and playfulness this season. So if you love black, keep in mind there are ways to spice it up with small tricks, and accessories.
Lace
Probably looking best, when it’s laid over a black base, and this winter is full of this type of pieces, especially sweaters and dresses embellished with lace. A top or body, borrowed from the world of lingerie, will come in handy, and bring some pep to an all black ensemble.
Faux fur
It’s the season for warm, soft faux fur that will make you incredibly comfortable. Black fur jacket is a definite must have and you will get endless wear out of it. So if black is your colour of choice, know this will spice up your outfits, and take them from boring to fashionable in a second.
See-through
Choose a top or body made of voile or tulle, make sure it’s transparent and truly sexy. Style it with a black blazer or leather jacket for a wonderfully attractive result. Keep in mind that see-through materials can excite the imagination, so while they can be very sexy, they’re not appropriate for business occasions.
Fitted blazer and leather pants
This is a stunning combination, in my opinion, exceedingly appealing and always useful. The blazer is a feminine piece in itself, and the leather pants have an erotic undertone, so style this combination with high heels.
Tulle skirt
I have quite a few at home, in several colours, and their usefulness never ceases to amaze me. A tulle skirt is not only an evening piece, far from it, you can wear it with army boots or sneakers, after all, but it’s actually even more beautiful with high heels (in which case it’s an evening, formal attire). Add a leather jacket and you’re ready for any occasion.
Leather jacket
It always comes in handy and you can style it with just about anything, even a little black dress, which is one of its’ great advantages, because it’s totally multifunctional. So try to play around with a tightly fitted jacket, just make sure it has a rock and roll vibe, with a bit of a dark side to it, but most of all, perfectly tailored. And not too short.
Glitter
You probably know by now that it is no longer just an evening accessory, far from it. Even though fashion offers it in every imaginable possibility, black glitter is probably the most wearable and subdued, so you can opt for a glittery top or pants, and create some drama by using other, minimalistic and completely smooth pieces.
Velvet
It comes off as totally glamorous and not at all basic, if for no other reason, than simply because it’s black and because it’s so soft. Velvet is the material of this cold season, that’s why any velvet piece will be a great choice. Start with a blazer and continue with trousers or a softly draped dress. You’ll look spectacular, even if it is all in black.
