This is only the beginning of 2017, of course, but be aware that I’m already preparing collections for 2018; and it’s the same for all fashion lovers ‒ the warm season is already knocking on our doors, which gives us all the more reason to take a look together at the big trends, which are bound to leave their mark on this year. No mention-worthy revolutions regarding materials, colours, or stylings, are to be expected, however, volumes as well as shapes are growing considerably wider. The comfortable and wearable trend is just around the corner, and since it tends to lose a bit of femininity here and there, it’s not my favourite; but as you’re well aware, fashion is also a challenge and we get used to it, sooner or later. Well, some more so than others, the important thing is that we all know how to stay true to our individual style.

Stripes everywhere
On pants, jackets, skirts, and dresses, there are stripes everywhere and they will bring a big twist to our outfits, especially in the summer. You should mind the shapes, however, because stripes can quickly make trousers look like pyjama bottoms, and similar is true for dresses. I find them much more pleasing, when the pieces are a bit more fitted, but it’s a matter of taste, really.

Mule shoes
They slip on, and their heels are the funniest. Ok, I’ll admit, I’m not so fond of this style and I am especially not a fan of the mid-heel, because they can quickly seem outdated. I sincerely hope this trend won’t stay around, although I already see it everywhere. Women with larger feet (I’m a size 9,5 myself) should be aware that this style of shoe will very distinctly elongate your foot, so I already dread it. I think, I’ll pass this one.

Graphic prints
Like blots and smudges on fabric, it’s all covered in drawings and looks chaotic. Expect a lot of disorganised graphic elements instead of flowers and dots. And yet, a piece like this can have a welcome effect on the entire outfit, so it can be interesting. Summer will be the peak of their season, so you can wait for the calm and refined winter to pass. Enjoy the subtleness while it lasts, because the warm season will bring some fashion disarray with it.

Track pants
Thus, the sports world inspirations continue, and we already fell for these casual models last year. They’re comfortable and soft, an ideal quick fix, we wear them with either sneakers or high heels, depending on personal preference and occasion. 2017 will generally be about mixing elegant and sporty pieces, which means anything you would wear to go running, can turn into a workplace piece. Just try to keep the balance between one world and the other in check.

New sneakers
They are becoming increasingly present in our wardrobes; from low to high, it doesn’t even matter, you will end up wearing them a lot. Contrasts sneakers/skirt or sneakers/suit will stick around, because these combinations actually work, and we got used to them. New sneakers will bring us some unusual shapes, raised soles that we have already been admiring, or various embellishments. But something’s for sure: they will stand out and be noticed, and it’s the secret to a gorgeous, interesting look.
