It suddenly struck me, as I was writing this piece: Although I have had the same hairstyle and the same color, I’m back in style! Sort of like vintage furniture and retro pieces our mothers used to wear, because everything keeps coming back and so I’m finally back in style. And my darlings, it has nothing to do with my natural brown hair, butmore to do with the fact I am for everything that can simplify my life, and I find it really fabulous that something wearable is in style, especially if it’s already on my head. I suppose we, brunettes, never really went out of style, but we were in a constant search of the right color with balayage and ombre techniques, so we missed the fact that a natural auburn, without any extra shades, is really beautiful.
If I’m being totally honest, letting go of the golden strands we’ve been looking at for so many years won’t be easy, but on the other hand, they’ve already become much more natural, so not exactly blonde and in your face, but only two to three shades different from the natural hair color. Another thing to mind is the positioning of the strands: not all over, because that has an aging effect and seems artificial, but only in the front and not across the entire length of the hair, andonly from halfway down. The rule is that we shouldn’t get them done more often than two times a year, or we risk getting a totally light or even brassy orange head, which is not something we like, is it?
If we’re speaking of hairstyles and colors in general, brunettes are not the only ones fashionable, although they take the lead: short hairstyles demand light shades, red-heads are also trendy, natural gingers and otherwise, and bold colors, of course, from violet to pink, from green to blue, reserved for those who dare. Personally, I find this unicorn trend a bit strange, although I have toadmit some women know how to wear it; but I still believe that we have to consider our age, or else risk seeming ridiculous or inappropriately dressed, because hair color can have a strong influence on what we choose to wear.
If you’re not one for highlights, you can color your hair at home, it’s a piece of cake, because all fashion dictates is an even color. The only thing to mind is hair care; a healthy hair will shine, but it has to be full of life; and since the leaves aren’t the only thing falling off in the fall, all the more reason to give our hair some extra TLC, including some vitamins.
