This is the year when even swimwear comes in a knitted version and even though it’s not the most water friendly fabric, it’s still beautiful. As such, we can anticipate a lot of knitwear, most often wonderfully combined with St. Gallen lace, which makes it look the most elegant and luxurious. Knitted pieces are breezy and light as a feather, white, of course, which plays an important role at the moment. Boho chic uses many of these elements and it looks like the trend will continue in the next winter. But which are the top pieces to wear most effortlessly? I’d like to put some emphasis on the tops, such as softly falling sweaters (which we can still wear over a shirt in the autumn), blouses with knitted parts (like pockets or a collar) and straight cut skirts with the dominant high waist. While the list could be even longer, the pieces I’ve mentioned are all that it takes for a super chic and contemporary wardrobe mix.
Knitted accessories are beautiful when you wear an off the shoulders blouse, and just as nice on sneakers or espadrilles, bags and even jewellery, so it’s all really a matter of taste and the mood you’re in. Long dresses have an important role; if they’re made of lace, a hand knitted hem or accessory often add an extra touch of romance and softness. While we associate knitwear with summer vacations and the warm season, it’s very wearable and looks particularly well on tanned skin. The look is simple, and yet brand new, which makes it a must for the hot season to come. A white blouse with knitted inlay is a piece you’ll be able to wear all year round, which also makes it a smart investment. Adapting your overall style to the knitted trend and letting the flower power vibe take over at least a bit is quite important. White knitwear is reminiscent of the 70’s and carries with it a more nostalgic, almost vintage note that goes beautifully with messy hairstyles and natural materials like leather accessories.
Modern lace knitwear is treated to be very soft, so we’re more than happy to wear it; lace can otherwise be somewhat harder, but using this technique makes it really wearable and pleasant, even on bare skin. Personally, I like the less complicated pieces that are more suitable for day wear, so I put more effort in the details and accessories, which enrich even the most ordinary pieces we’ve already seen before. Knitted hems are particularly lovely on summer sets like a T-shirt and shorts, because the lace breaths into them an air of elegance that women always welcome. Similar is true for wider tunics, which we can also wear with shorts: the knitted hems are really attractive. Of course there are other colours besides white, usually pastels, but white is the one that will make you look modern and refined. We cannot forget about bags in this lace and knit mania, they’re a big summer hit: knitted ones are very useful, and not just to go to the beach! Even smaller evening bags and clutches can be of knitted material and embellished with pompoms or stones.
So don’t forget knitted lace and the pieces that will become key parts in your summer, vacation wardrobe: you won’t regret it and I strongly believe you’ll be able to wear the pieces again next year, because the summer is a time when we can simply be bit more carefree and and nevertheless still look wonderful.
