I believe that all of us women are quite similar to one another. We keep buying clothes and accessories, but when we open our closet, we feel like we have absolutely nothing to wear. Sounds familiar? We all want to be elegant and gorgeous, and I think it doesn’t take much to achieve that, because there are so many options in stores nowadays, from pricey to affordable. All it takes is that we stop and look in our closets for a few minutes, and go about assembling our wardrobe in a smarter way. Here are my seven tips for achieving an elegant style.
Wonderful mothers
We can find so many ready-to-wear pieces in their wardrobes. It’s interesting, how they can keep their clothes so impeccable, ensuring that the lace is still snow white, and the knee-length dresses are ready for the catwalk.
Bare legs
I don’t think there is anything more attractive than a pair of good looking bare legs. Take care of them to the best of your abilities and make an effort to get some exercise, a bit of tan, and some nourishing oil, when the skin is dry. Don’t go overboard with miniskirts, a midi is just as lovely, and sexy enough.
Practice walking in heels
Only wear the heels you can actually walk in. There is nothing worse than a woman who walks like a duck, because the heels are too high, or the sandals totally uncomfortable. If you can’t do high heels, opt for a medium height.
Defined waistline
The waist is key, especially, when you’re not in the greatest shape and need to shed a few extra pounds. The waistline needs to be visible, so make use of belts to make sure the line between the upper body and legs is clearly defined.
Coats and jackets
We often fail to realise how important these are. Coats and jackets aren’t just pieces to throw over the shoulders, so it can be black, because black goes with everything, but go further. The coat is the first thing we notice in the street, so opt for quality pieces. And dare with some color.
Either accessories or the outfit
If you love oversized, loud and playful accessories, such as shoes with pompons, frilled bags or statement earrings, then your outfit needs to be minimalist. If you prefer less jewellery, try to play around with important pieces, such as a skirt and top with contrasting patterns. There are never too many colours!
Don’t save things for special occasions
Because every day is a special occasion. Work, stroll, store, lunch with friends … All of these are special occasions, so there’s no sense in having a closet full of pieces you don’t wear hardly at all, just because you’re waiting for that “special occasion”. Every day is wholly important, and so are you. Be beautiful, always.

Be kind with your words about others. If you’re going to talk about someone behind their back, say something good. Elegance as well.
Put the cell phone/ electronics away while you’re sitting at the table. When you are in someone’s presence, really be with them. Even if it’s only for a minute, look them in the eyes and offer them grace and attentiveness. This is elegance to me. Nice to read you Lorella.
An elegant woman has a radiating inner peace. In other words, mental grooming is as important as the physical.
As Dianne Vreeland said, “The only real elegance is in the mind; if you’ve got that, the rest really comes from it.”
Elegance has become a lost art. And, for many, it’s an art form that many of us never learned.
