Fashion freedom in the last few years has been unbelievable and everyone can find something interesting for themselves; it seems to me that fashion designers have their own way of interpreting fashion, which in turn finds its own life on the streets, where we can find the most inspiring trends, and even more importantly, the ones we’re actually going to wear. Fall and winter are going to be wonderful, feminine and very wearable, but most of all, we won’t get cold, because there are so many top pieces that will ensure that we stay warm and in trend. Royal materials, colours that pop, lots of accessories: it’s all scented with beauty, and classic minimalism isn’t around anymore. I chose six trends for you, which I’m enthusiastic about, but I have to say I could easily have found a couple more, so you can expect more articles on winter fashion in the near future.
Metallic fabrics
Shimmering materials are almost an imperative, and there are many pieces that have a fine glimmer and seem glamorous. Opt for silver blouses, pleated skirts (metallic fabric gives pleats the most wonderful effect), printed dresses. Style them with shoes that are also metallic (for evening occasions) or with black to gently neutralise the whole look.
Shoe accessories
I wrote about a trend not that long ago that dictates quirky shoes and ankle boots. They’re all models that do not wish to remain unnoticed and boast with flowers, appliqués, chains … The possibilities are endless, so get the pair that suits you best. You can also play around with colour, making your shoes the statement piece.
Velvet
Not only for the evenings, far from it actually, because velvet has become a part of our everyday lives this fall. Some even suggest velvet suits, maxi dresses or A-line skirts. If you prefer a more subdued look, opt for a blazer or trousers: they’re pieces you will wear often anyway, and they always seem elegant and noble. I’m all about velvet, so I think it’s a splendid idea.
Bomber jacket
This piece is going through an unbelievable revival, it’s gorgeous and useful, and not boring in the least. There are models with lining or smooth ones, which seem more of a spring choice. Colder days suggest a warmer jacket, but there should have some writing on the back, embroidery and lots of accessories, which are so sumptuous and lavish that they require a more neutral outfit.
Mix of various patterns
This trend has been around for a few seasons now, but since the fall is so rich fashion-wise, you can wear many different fabrics and patterns at the same time ‒ just try to remain within the boundaries of good taste and don’t go completely overboard. My advice is to combine 100 % foolproof pieces, such as florals and stripes, florals and dots, colour block and a printed piece. There are still some items that only look good on the runway, and don’t turn out to be as useful in every day life.
