These winter days are all about warm jackets and coats and as we know, the top-layer pieces go a long way toward creating your style. Coats, bombers, jackets, ponchos, long knitwear etc. are all pieces that ensure that we don’t get cold. A gorgeous and high quality top piece is a sound investment, because we’ll wear it often. This winter has a lot of them in store, so I chose five key pieces, with which you cannot miss.
Montone – shearling jacket
The nude to light brown color and warm lining make this a classic. It’s usually mid-length and looks great with jeans. Add army boots or sporty footwear, and you’re ready. This is an evergreen model of jackets and it’s reminiscent of the past. It’s going through a revival right now, just as the following model is.
Lined denim jacket
I have a complicated relationship with this piece, because I remember wearing them in the 90’s and I’m not exactly a fan of the decade. Nevertheless, a fur lined denim jacket is the rave right now, although I cannot say it’s going to last‒I rather think it will be forgotten again quickly. If you’re willing to give it a go, it has to be light and long enough to become wearable: the shorter models are practically useless.
Long coat
Not necessarily floor-length, it can reach mid-calf, but this is still a longer cut, so it’s a true statement piece, which elevates your style. Classic colors, such as camel or black, are sure to impress, but if you prefer alternatives, do opt for pastel shades.
Oversized down jacket
I’ve written about these already, and in principle, the conclusion was that they’re not top choice. Let’s put it like this: forget about oversized models and instead focus on regular fit in a nice color. The winter sales make this piece more affordable, so do consider it. It’s good to have more than one in your closet, because it always comes in handy and rounds off different looks beautifully.
Lined bomber jacket
It’s shorter than down jackets and looks gorgeous with jeans. Almost all models that made the top five cut are a throwback to the 90’s, as you can see, because fashion always makes a comeback, and everything gets a shot at a second or even third chance! A bomber jacket is a good choice, if you’re tall and slim, because it creates volume in the upper body. For the same reason, I advise petite or stubby women against it. And of course, black is not the only color to consider, far from it!

I just love winter! Even more than summer! For any casual occasion, rock a knit dress, and layer on your fur vest. This low-key look pairs well with riding boots and a wool fedora. If you live in a cooler climate, we suggest adding tights to keep your legs warm.
Invest in a simple button-up blouse. It’s the perfect layer to wear under your simple black dress. Glam up the look with a statement necklace for a dressy day at your desk or a holiday party.
This season you’ll need: a fur vest, knit dress, leather pants, simple blouse, wool coat, long cardigan, and turtleneck sweater. The best thing to keep in mind when you’re shopping is that simplicity trumps all—simple colors, prints, and silhouettes.
