This is a mixed skin type selection, because I tested the foundations myself for my skin type. I’m writing from my personal experience, hoping to give you some useful advice. I for one know that choosing a foundation can be a mission impossible task, because it’s difficult to find the right shade, and an even more demanding condition to find only one product that you can use for your whole face. This being a time of extreme contouring, I believe every woman should own at least two foundations: a lighter one for the T zone and a darker one for all other areas; and additionally a concealer to lightly dab under your eyes, on your nose and chin, when you’ve already finished applying your makeup. There are many You Tube videos available on this topic, and I find them quite useful, because they give very specific instructions on how to apply foundation in order to achieve a perfect complexion. I chose five quality products that are not too heavy, but still give you good coverage and are a good choice for warm summer days.
Benefit Big Easy
I think all of their foundations are good, they’re not appropriate for problematic skin however, because they won’t cover skin imperfections. If you’re looking for a nice summer texture, matte enough without it being too emphasised, this foundation will not disappoint. One of its advantages is that it moisturises, so you can use it with a serum and will be pleased with the results.
Clarins Ever Matte
One of its components is Skin Detox complex, which makes it suitable for problematic skin; it provides good coverage, doesn’t dry out the skin, prevents a shiny look and it’s long lasting. It comes in many shades, but try to test it in natural light, because the shades are quite similar to each other.
Make up forever Mat Velvet
An excellent line of facial products and their foundations are a top choice. This one requires a higher skill level, because it dries quickly even though it’s quite runny at first. It has a light texture and it’s very matte, so it’s not suitable for the dry areas of the face. As I’ve said: always combine different foundations, it’s the only way to achieve a flawless effect.
Nars Sheer Glow Foundation
Another superb brand of high quality cosmetic; it takes the lead in this selection of foundations because it’s a high quality and long lasting product that is just the right combination of sheer and matte. Again, it doesn’t completely cover problematic areas, so it requires the skin to be quite flawless.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Powder Foundation
A solid foundation that is easily applied with a cosmetic sponge and is ideal to have in your bag for quick touch-ups. It gives sufficient coverage and lasts up to eight hours; I like the fact that it’s ultra light, as if I’m not even wearing it, and the shades are quite smart.
PS. Nars and Urban Decay are the perfect combination ‒ tried and tested at every event, TV and photo shoot!
