My darlings, how are you? Are you also part of this euphoric wave, called summer? Have you also fallen in love with evening cicadas and the smell of sea? Are you getting used to living in your swimsuit? I sincerely hope you’re with me in this story and that you’re enjoying life as much as I do. If I think about advice, I actually have quite a lot more than seven tips, because my favorite season fills me with inspiration. But still…Seven this time and all the rest the next time.
TV shows and books
Now is the time I can make up for all the things I’ve missed out on and there are quite a few. I’m not going to catch up by September, because I would need at least two additional months of summer, but I am doing my best. I watch a good movie, which is fresh in theatres, you know, like Pretty Woman, Ghost and Footloose, and Grease to get a good measure of John Travolta, because I find him irresistible there). Books also finally get their turn: motivational, novels, food for soul. Don’tmiss out on these moments, because they’re as priceless as life itself.
Fire
I learnedsomething from my little girl. Because she’s a bit of a witch, like my mother, these two have a special ritual. When bad dreams or bad thoughts come to them, Sofia draws them and then we burn them. Fire purges everything and I can tell you, it’s like therapy for the soul. I tried this trick a couple of times to get rid of a bad situation. Even though it didn’t resolve instantly, it definitely became easier and it seemed less impossible to overcome. Summer is also a good time to clean, so take time and do it, not just your wardrobe, but also feelings, people, situations, everything. This way, September will be even more wonderful.
Sleep therapy
The kids are finally out of school and I really hope yours sleep a bit longer as well, so you get to res tas well.Sleep is very important for your beauty and your nerves, we’re all edgy and lack real strength. So sleep as much as you can, even in the afternoon, but especially in the morning. I’m sure you have fewer obligations in the summer, so you can go with the easy flow of life. You don’t need much: clean bedding, no telephones or computers in sight and your own switch off button.
Have you noticed the sky?
I stand on the beach and just observe. The clouds are like sheep, peacefully walking across the blue sky. I love this scene and it relaxes me. It’s interesting, how the things that are good for us and for our soul are right in front of us, we just have to notice them. Are you able todo it? I’m sure it’ll be a piece of cake, you just have to stop. Maybe you won’t succeed every day, but do lift up your nose every now and then and catch a glimpse of this endless beauty, you won’t regret it and your life will be more easy going.
Have you seen the stars?
They’re shining bright right now! Looking up at the velvet sky always brings a smile to my face. Above all, there’s the silver moon, which I’m in love with and it’s great to watch it and look for all her different faces. Stars calm us down, they’re like gems, hanging in the sky, they’re really close, just like clouds, and they make us happy, even though they’re not doing anything special, they simply are. It’s been my dream ever since I can remember to just take a blanket, go on a hill, lie down and look at the sky. I just might do it one day, sooner or later!
Really relax
How? Precisely by doing nothing special. I love to lie in the hammock and look at the garden, I also like being on the balcony with a good cup of coffee or in a really quiet restaurant with a nice view. Everywhere can be special, if we can just take notice. So stop and think away all your worries, because you won’t solve them by now anyway, and thinking about them only gives them weight, so it’s useless. Gather your energy for the fall, you’ll need it…and so will I!
Rituals
I’ll make it quick: bathing in the tub with lavender, massage gel (anti-cellulite, if possible), doing your nails with the perfect shade of red, hand cream, face scrub, hair mask, tea from your own garden (or your mother’s, that’s even better!). And then new juice glasses, pillows for the living room and candles everywhere. My darlings, we make sure we indulge in some simple magic, not just right now, but all the way through summer. And if you have any good tips yourselves, I’m open to suggestions. Hug.

Research has shown that the brain likes to be outside. Whether you are in a forest or concrete jungle, you will automatically turn down your stress response, stimulating your endorphins.
Nourish your bod with a seasonal superfood smoothie
The trick? Planning activities that allow you to recharge while still taking advantage of everything that’s so rad about the season.
Taking time out for self-care is important at this time of the year.
Happy to read this Olivia and good luck with the new skirt! And, of course, happy holidays! xoxo
