After statement necklaces, which screamed for attention, after midi rings, which adorned practically every finger and required a perfect manicure, now is the time for statement earrings. You’ll mostly see hoops, some ethnic pieces, both dangling and really huge. Nope, it’s not a summer’s trend; it’s a full-blown mania that we can only get away with right now. It’s best to style these kinds of earrings with an updo, preferably with a low bun, which makes them stand out, enhances the facial features, and does loads for your style. But, how do we choose them?
Hoops are the ones we will get the most wear out of, because they’re timeless and require no specific styling combinations; I would sooner say you could even wear them with jeans and a withe shirt. Silver or gold, they’re the necessary addition to the every day look. Their upgraded version includes additional stones or pearls, and you often choose to wear only one of the pair. It’s not a punk-rock look, but a trend that allows for one earring only, because two would be too much. You will get to choose colourful variations in the summer, mostly white and pastels, and you can opt for black, because they’re an interesting evening look, but seem very accessible, or almost regally incorporated into a day look. Don’t overlook the golden rule: One piece is enough to make you stand out, and don’t go overboard with the makeup.
Oversized earrings look gorgeous with stones in a colour-matching version, which aren’t as loud, especially in black and in white. Pompons and frills are also in trend, but you are also sure to find quite a few interesting ethnic pieces in silver, which also come in hoops and with either turquoise or moon stone. These look flattering on every woman, and in my opinion a statement earring is a piece we can all indulge in. How about you, have you got one ready to show?
